I guess it has to do with the DC you run out of. I was only on a 6/3, but I busted my ##* and ran my clock out and just barely broke $70k my first year. Still not horrible pay, but was expecting more.

That 6-3 is great cause of that extra day off every week. But it costs you 4 days a month of pay. If your adp is 400 a day that's 1600 dollars a month you are losing.

I won’t go as far as saying it isn’t a good job, especially compared to most of the mainstream driving jobs out there, but it isn’t what I expected after hearing about it being the pinnacle of driving jobs for years. Mediocre medical insurance, subpar unscheduled timepay(especially with the huge increase in live load backloads), the sharing of equipment, the numerous “safety” nannies that the new trucks have for what are supposed to be “the best of the best drivers” are a few of the major things that made me decide to leave. The mileage pay is decent considering it’s paid on hub, activity pay is good, 401k match/stock purchase program are stellar, as are some of the additional insurances(Life, STD, LTD, while pricey, have very good coverage options) and the time off is unmatched in the industry. If it wasn’t for the aforementioned “safety” devices and micromanagement and equipment wasn’t slip seated, I’d more than likely have stayed and dealt with the rest. Just a #### shame that they have turned what was once a dream job into a just above average position.

Another thing that wore on me running out of my DC(6080 Tobyhanna PA) was the nonstop Northeast driving. I would occasionally end up in VA for the week or very occasionally Upstate NY, and the even more rare(twice in just shy of two years) few days in OH, but otherwise it was NJ, LI, CT or running Mass and New England nonstop. It would be nice if they let drivers stretch their legs a little bit more often. Running NJ and LI nonstop for a few weeks in a row makes a guy want to end it lmao. They would have to assign everyone their own truck to break out of the region more though I suppose, and that will never happen.

But I’m saying is it’s not the job it used to be years ago where it was layers above everybody else especially when it comes to pay because there’s other driving jobs that pay equivalent to what Walmart pays or even more and jobs that have drivers home daily

No, it definitely isn’t what it once was...ask any old timer that’s been there for over 10 years and they will tell you such...those that haven’t left. Guess that’s what happens when the main goal becomes appeasing shareholders and pencil pushers not realizing the small amount they save through their actions is lost when there is a constant turnover. I hope one day they go back to their roots and core values, but I don’t see that happening.

Yea, lots of guys who either will never be satisfied or have never worked here find themselves complaining the most. This place has its flaws but it's typically better than everyone's former employer.
