Hi Guys Anybody have experience buying a Truck from Schneider direct? They have some okay deals on the Cascadia and wanted to what people think.

80000 - 85000 miles between PMs. Not even an oil change in that distance

Buy from an O/O. They can give you the full 9 yards. I wouldn't buy ANY fleet truck.

Prices seem fair. I checked on it a few years ago and "no test drives off the property and no oil analysis allowed." Trucks were sold "as is." Maybe that's changed. You can ask about that.

Here's some decent prices on fully loaded Kenworth T680's. Has APU, so idle time is minimal.

Wouldn’t touch it without full dyno, oil sample and independent inspection.

As a former fleet shop Forman, no way in hell I would buy any old fleet trucks. They practice breakdown maintenance, shops are told all costs to minimum. So much so that oil filters were changed every 100k oil at 50k so 2 to 1. Why do you think fleets buy trucks now days and have for a long time everything that can be sealed is sealed. Heaven forbid they might have to grease a truck. Then the fact in the 4 o4 5 years that truck was in servic3 probably had 20 or more drivers assigned to them. Schneider doesn’t have APU so the idle time thru the roof

I learned from my father in law who was the truck engine manager for cat in omaha until the mid 90s about fleet maintenance.
The tales he told me about werner maintenance told me all I needed to know about buying a fleet truck .
This pump and dump maintenance program has been around for several decades now and I'm surprised people will even look at a fleet truck unless its at wholesale price .
Hell the owner of the 100 truck fleet im leased to said to me and I quote " i have no attachment to these trucks they are only a tool for making money ...put as little into them as possible while maximizing utililization ....dump them when the market is high or they cost to much to maintain.
I'm not saying don't buy a fleet truck buy dont pay much over wholesale for it and plan on high repair costs due to deferred maintenance practices.

One driver that used to post on here bought some Melton trucks and likes them.
TransAm used trucks are a lot cheaper though.
