Finally took the plunge into being an owner operator.
Bought a 2016 T680 from TransAm
Paccar engine
Eaton Fuller Transmission
Keep having issues with the transmission. Transmission works well for a few hundred miles then I start getting service transmission lights flashing and it starts to slip a bit or shift rough from 8-10. When reversing its shake rattle and roll. Other times it stops reversing completely.
Trucks at Kenworth again, 3rd time since I've owned it.
Are their known problems with the eaton fuller? Last time I used one was in 2015 and I didn't like that one either.
Is it possible to change the transmission to a cummings? About how much would that cost roughly?

There's no such thing as a Cummins transmission.
runningman0661, Midwest Trucker and Goodysnap Thank this. -
Just looked up a truck I drove earlier in the year as well.
International LT Cummings engine with an eaton fuller. Didn't have any of the problems with that truck that I'm experiencing with my t680. My t680 reminds me of my first experience with autos from 2015 which wasn't pleasant.
The LT was the first auto since the 2015 cascadia. LT handled very well in all backing. My 680 not so much. -
I’d say you need to change oil in transmission, the DT12 autos have a filter in there too, Not sure about the Eaton auto, I’m sure they would.
Service intervals claim 500k miles,
I personally won’t go that far, I change my transmission and rear end oil every year, around Christmas week, when everyone home doing nothing, an owner operator should take time and do something to their trucks, if the truck don’t eat, nobody does.auto92 Thanks this. -
Roberts450 and Midwest Trucker Thank this.

I disagree. This transmission was originally designed for Paccar and was exclusively available behind the MX-13 and Cummins X15. With the technology in these new engines, the necessity of communication between the engine and transmission is greater than ever. I can guarantee if Cummins or Paccar puts their name on it, they had engineers on the project.
Also if you have ever driven a truck with this transmission, then you would agree it's next level performance.Goodysnap Thanks this. -
The trans was origanally propritary to Paccar and chassis equipped with Paccar engines. It is 100% designed and manufactured by Eaton corporation. Just like the Paccar 40K diffs are 100% designed and manufactured by Meritor.
The badge and name game is purley marketing. Again, JMO -
Eaton autos are just automated versions of their manual transmission. No internal clutches and oil has nothing to do with shifting. Its just an Eaton manual transmission with an XY shifter in place of a tower/lever and an actuator to control the clutch.
