Not gonna lie. I was getting screwed all week. All the senior drivers are the top guys that are now loaders. And they all took the last two weeks off cause they had the seniority to pull it off. This caused management to round up the 2nd and 3rd string loaders to make things happen.
Example:. Before Christmas I had a LOCAL route. Usually 42- 57 miles of driving to get everything off and some stops back on. I ran that day and logged 167 miles zig zagging past the same customers 4-6 times before I actually got to them.
Come Thursday, this practice squad loader pulled a bunch of storage freight to give me a "Hail Mary" route. And of course I brought most of it back.
Yeah, they screwed me hard.

I'm sure that's just what a dispatcher wants to hear.
"Sorry, I have no room for pickups due to dockworker stupidity."
People need to get fired for those types of shenanigans.Texas_hwy_287, hotrod1653 and Gearjammin' Penguin Thank this. -
My rant, guys with higher seniority keep pawning off the eastbound runs on me so they don't have to stray away from their cake walk northbound daytime northbound runs that hardly ever deal with snow.
I've chained up over a dozen times aready this year, and find my home time consisting of me sleeping so I can get up and get back to work. Days off? More like sleep catch up days.
on the flip side, while the senior drivers are flaunting their laziness, I'm banging out almost 2k gross a week compared to the 1450 from the day runs, have become surprising effecient at throwing chains, and I have adapted to being able to switch from day to graveyard in a day.
Anyone lse feel like this pandemic also having the opposite effect on their job compared to other fields? The beginning of 2020 had me layed off for a few months, but now there seems to be too much work and not enough drivers. -
Seniority sucks until you have it.
