Examples of how NOT to park

That aint no kiddin. I have seen multiple wrecks all hours of the day and night right in that area.

And to hell with that Loves. There's another truck stop a mile or 2 past that Loves W bound. Cheaper fuel and not jam packed with #######.

 

I know about the ghost tracks and the donkey lady, but I have never heard of Red Berry or Joe Ball until now. Gonna have to do some digging and learn more about those. If a bar is currently operating in Joe Ball's saloon building then I absolutely have to go - I would love to drink in a haunted bar!!!

Over the years I've also heard stories about the midget mansion, Scull's Crossing, one of the old downtown hotels (Menger? Gunter?) and of course the chupacabra.

 

The Gunter hotel. Robert E. Lee lived there in 1857 when he was the Comander of Ft. Sam Houston. Room 414 is where Robert Johnson recorded “Down at the crossroads” and “Sweet home Chicago” in 1938.

The Menger has a haunted history as many many famous people over the years stayed there and many people died there. My mom is friends with a lady who ran that place for 30 years before she retired. She has lots of stories of strange paranormal things there. She gave me and the wife a room for 2 free days for our honeymoon. The place is interesting and creepy in a good way.

I have seen many coyote’s that are close kin to the chupacabra.

Joe Ball’s salloon is just partial remnants on some un used overground property. Been closed since ‘38 or so when He shot himself in it before the Texas Rangers could get to him.

 

Thatis what happens when you say, "God help me find a parking spot." In the Midwest, in spring.
