Glad it works for you staying out as long as you do. When you live in Fl I would think you would want to be home and enjoy it. 2 months of truck stop follies every night and the joys of the truck stop bathroom at 6am every morning takes a special breed.

For me it's different. I'm single and can't stand sitting around not making money. Don't have any hobbies but playing video games which I have a whole setup in the truck. Dont have any home or apartme to worry about and just use my parents place as my home address. Last year I never went home at all for hometime. Whenever the grind got to be to much I'll just put in for a few days and got a hotel. Even with that I only grossed 75k on this dedicated. If I did that on the otr side with the longer trips probably would be in the 90k bracket.

Agreed, for you the change to OTR would likely make more sense.

Florida is a tourist destination, when you live there you stay far far away from the tourist traps. I've never been to Disney or any of it's spin off parks around Orlando(and have no interest in ever going). I have no interest in the beach, every time I would go, when I try to get out of the water, tourist tried to push me back in like I was beaching myself (like I'm as big as a whale). I have multiple lakes and rivers around me, but lost interest in fishing years ago. The reason I like where I live, mild enough climate, no state income tax, low property taxes, and I can do what I want on my property without nosey neighbors or the government sticking their nose in my business.

Oh Florida....when I was otr for crete had a Pepsi load to pick up. Sat 5 hours on the side of the road to only be told that the truck they loaded ahead of me used the pick up # I had. Turned out the broker crete booked this load from double sold and also gave it to another company. Anyway I had to wait till the next day again on the side of the road the whole time since no way I'll find a truck spot at 8pm, and do it with no layover or detention pay.

Since the previous load no longer existed and my next load was a preload and not live so no detention. Could of talked to someone demanding pay but I just got hired on and didn't want to cause a ruckus for some small amount.

Regardless it leaves a bad taste in my mouth everything I hear Florida :p

Things have changed a lot, at least while freight is hot (or maybe it's my asset manager's skill at keeping me moving). Use to be, most loads going south of I-4 would drop at the rail yard in Jacksonville (if there was enough time on the load) and the rail company would ship it on rail cars, have their people take the load and deliver it, then ship the empties back to Jax. Guess it was cheaper than all the idle time in S. FL drivers did while waiting for their next load, then deadheading them out anyway. Now, you're in and out on company loads not broker loads. I do mostly fruit juice from Auburdale.

Perfect example of what opening a can of whoop-### means

Funniest part is when the narrator says (as the punk gets up) 'he realizes he left the oven on'

That Pepsi load was from 2019. Was my 2nd load with crete. First was a Hobby Lobby load from Walmart to Florida with said Pepsi load from Orlando plant to some warehouse up North.

Anytime they sent me close to Jacksonville I always ended up picking up a heavy beer load.

I’m a barr nunn driver. Terrific company, great $ and easy to attain bonuses. I voluntarily took off from 4/1 to 5/1 when covid hit, went home the entire month to stay home w my kids. Still grossed like $96k for 2020. And I rarely leave eastern PA or NJ.

I thought about them at one time, but where I live I would be one of those drivers that drives one truck for a while, then they have you clean it out when it comes to hometime and then take a round trip rental car/plane ride home and come back to a different truck. I started my career being a slip seat driver, don't want to have to do that again if I can avoid it.
