I am here at Safeway, Tracy, CA now.
Arrived, and main gate security sent me to the wrong holding lot.
The secondary guard shack at the wrong lot gave me bad directions to the right holding lot.
A friendly yard dog helped me get to the right holding lot.
The right holding lot told me to dock in door 256 and check in by door 410. Thankfully I was looking at door numbers as I was wandering around lost, so I remembered where those numbers were. Door 256 and 410 are on opposite sides of a primary warehouse, about a 1/3 mile each way. If I had done as directed, I would have walked 2/3 mile in the rain after docking. Instead, I stopped at door 410, checked in, then went to door 256.
In terms of space and backing /parking, it's actually one of the best DC's in CA that I have been to.
In terms of sheer Charlie Foxtrot madness, they have at least three guard shacks with at least 10 people total doing what any Wal Mart can do with 4 people at one guard shack. And those 10 people are horribly inefficient and clueless about their own facility.Blue jeans, nredfor88, Dave_in_AZ and 3 others Thank this. -
Please tell us how long you're there! My last time was 7+ hours! Burned my clock down then told to please leave property! No parking for a 10 even though they have the space!Dave_in_AZ Thanks this.

My total time there was around three hours. Not good, but not exceptionally bad. Maybe I was lucky.Dave_in_AZ and alds Thank this.

Lineage in Ft. Worth tried to charge a bunch of us $100 late arrival fees after we stood in line waiting to check in for literally over 2 hours. A bunch of us raised hell, and threatened to just leave (2 guys actually did) so they wised up and waived the fees for the rest of us. I got the broker and my on call dispatcher to call them up and chew them a new one.
5+ hours after finally getting into a door for a partial load (after the 2 hour plus check in fiasco) and of course I missed my last pick by 15 minutes and had to layover til 10AM the next day. I made it a point to deliver their freight over a day late as well.
It wasn't the worst as far as wasted time, but the sheer unprofessionalism of their employees was what made it terrible.alds, Blue jeans, Dave_in_AZ and 1 other person Thank this. -
Americold has always been hit or miss depending on location. It's like playing the lottery. I showed up at the one in Darien, WI today 3 hours early and was on the road and gone an hour and a half later.Blue jeans, bzinger, nredfor88 and 2 others Thank this.

I had a multi stop load all of them US foods locations . Stop 1 in W Virginia took so long that was impossible to get to 2nd stop in Ohio which then made me a "work in" and fined me for being late. I was able to do some creative logbook writing to get me to 3rd stop where I spent the next 10 hrs.Fun times
Blue jeans, Dave_in_AZ and Farmerbob1 Thank this. -
So places "fine" you for being late for your appointment time but when you're on time in most cases detention starts after 2 hours? What kind of crap is that? Only in this industry I tell ya.
alds, Dave_in_AZ, DoubleO7 and 3 others Thank this.
