I was offered a side hustle job one day a week on a State & Fed highway job , never done it before , owner says its easy and you actually stay in the truck and the construction crew dumps it with the side controls , what im wondering is do i have to clean out the trailer after each dump.
My better half says if i bring the crap home on my clothes, im fired.
Its a davis bacon job and pays well.
    Any pointers would be appreciated.

May as well forget it, anytime you clean out a trailer, you’re probably going to get something in your clothes, may not be much, but just bumping or rubbing against it with a sleeve and it’s now dirty.

So, you want to be a "shluck" hauler, and the wifey says no? ( I assume it's a wife) Lots of luck with that one. The only women I've seen that actually like that smell, are the ones that work on the crew. I drove for an asphalt co. and while it's true, the driver doesn't have the same duties as say the guys on the paver, there will be times some may get stuck in the box, or during the many breakdowns, you may have to drive a hand shovel. Years ago, we used fuel oil, but now, I think it's a soapy solution, and doesn't work near as well. ( whispering, fact is, I carried a small weed sprayer full of fuel oil, we all did) The bottom line, if better half says no, probably best to let the job pass.

I've done that ..asphalt in bottom dumps. Driver drives truck, crew walks along side opening the "gates" with the outside controls. Easy work. Trailers need "cleaning" at end of shift. You spray the imterior with diesel fuel to prevent the asphalt from sticking, but some will stick.

If the trillion band aid program comes to fruition , it maybe something we can cash in on.
Fed jobs pay 38$ a hour davis bacon with OT 11/2 after 8 working 70 a week.
Not to shabby in my eye's.

haha...yes we did. I used to pull of on a ramp near the plant, go spray the body and apron, and when I got to the plant, I'd hurry through the soap rack so I didn't get too much in the box.

I'm surprised in Cal. that still flies today. In Wis. cops would give you a ticket for leaking hazardous material, with a hefty fine, not to mention, what the boss might say. It was their name on the door,,,:angryfire:

It doesn't fly here. If the people at the plant catch you with diesel in your trailers they'll sign you out. If the LEOs see it dripping out the bottom they'll tag you.
If the guys on the job see it they're supposed to report it but if you're one of their regular haulers and you're not a trouble maker they might cut you some some slack.
If Cal-Trans sees you dripping diesel they can shut you down completely.

.........and yet you're dumping oil/tar mixed with gravel on the ground. Nobody sees the irony in that?
