Well they advertise $89,000 a year to start. You know #### well you're gonna have to jump through some fiery hoops for that kind of money.

i thought someone said the made 100k first year maybe misread anyways i by fiery hoops i guess depends on person i think of fiery hoops illegal and shady ### ####, if by fiery hoops demand your not on phone, and micro managed to do pretrip for 100k i think i would take extra attention for pretrip.

Doing oil field work which by the way can be very very risky you can have a job 1 day or 20 yrs iv only talked to a few who were allowed to retire from oil field with it being chance shutdown any given day its a big risk. personally if I had chose walmart or oilfield field would be walmart seems a safer bet but i am a company driver or wont ever break out into o/o but thats just me.

I don't think I'd work for them even if they seriously offered. Yes, that money is okay and certainly still above average, but I don't think I'm cut out for that soul-sucky crap where the company has cameras on ya at all times, sticks you in a plastic fleet-spec truck with an automatic transmission and makes you run on an ELD. Maybe pulling doubles or triples for UPS I'd put up with all that for the bucks those guys make, but they don't generally hire guys off the street so that's a bit of an unobtainium job anyway. Some of the freight barns around here are hiring guys at $29-30/hr to bump docks and deliver pallets so I've thrown my hat in the ring on a couple of those. That's $1200 just on 40 hrs of straight time. Throw in 10 hrs of OT at $45/hr and you'd be at $1650/wk for 5 10 hour work days which would easily be best paying company job I've ever had.

UPS has never been more attainable. If you seriously want a job with them, put in an application. You might be shocked.

I've looked. They're only looking for PT package huckers in Elkhart. South Bend they've got some driving jobs listed for the freight side which I believe was sold to a Canadian outfit recently.

How does that work typically if I were to go sign up to be a package handler? Do they just put you on the bottom of the seniority list and then offer full time work to whoever's next on the list? Does already having a Class A license matter at all?

I heard from a very reliable source that in Chicago, UPS is looking to put on some 300 drivers. No better time if a person wants to get his foot in the door with a SOLID union company. Might be a little "tough" the first few years, but it is well worth it.
