if they would ##### pay their drivers better wages, they woulnd't need to run illegal. you should see all the white shirts walking around the home terminal right now. it's nuts! i take care of business and have always been on time for deliveries, even if that meant parking on the side of the road somewhere in the ghetto. i haven't declined a #### load since july. i've gone wherever they have sent me, and without ever whining about it.

Enoughs enough ! Six hours ago I ended my three years at Knight and already my food tastes better, my sense of smell is returning, the vivid colors of this beautiful world are re-emerging, I've lost my nervous twitch, and my blood pressure has dropped.
-
Do you have something else lined up yet?
For your sake, I hope you do. The economy is ALOT worse than I thought it was.
It took me 2 weeks to find a job thru a TEMP. AGENCY! But at least it's pay by the hour and OT! after 40 hrs. I just wish I didnt have to drive 40 miles to go to work every day. I will end up spending $70/week on gas! -
Let us know the specifics on that fancy new gizmo they put on your truck, I am dying to hear the details of all the fun I am missing! LOL! -
Thanks Dave ! I have met your former terminal manager and he is a good guy. I met him on a Sunday of all days too. Yes, I will acknowledge Knight isn't the best but it is a job. Not much of one but it is a job. I drove straight over from Knight and took my check ride with my new company and all is well. Three years of unprecedented service and dedication and it was funny, I walked around that terminal and you'd of thought I had run over a puppy in front of a little kid. Oh well I guess they were a little ticked I quit but dam not being properly utilized to my maximum potential and constantly lied too by other terminals, what the heck was I supposed to do ? I wonder if they are nicer seeing you off if you total a truck or open a trailer like a can of sardines ?
It's been time to go for a long time, I have no idea why I waited so long, not a #### clue. -
In fact, it would be a neat poll, if someone would set that up, to ask how many drivers have quit a company only to at some point later, go back to work for the same company even though they knew there were problems. Personally, I have done it twice with 2 different companies! I think that says something about my charecter that 2 different companies thought I was worth hiring AND re-hiring. (or maybe they were just desperate to have warm bodies holding a steering wheel! LOL!) -
I agree, the companies show no loyalty towards a driver. I'm ashamed to admit I left Knight briefly and came back to them. Thought I would enjoy being home daily but I didn't so I went back but that was back when we actually worked hard for five days and then went home. Now they sit you on rear and give you a 300 mile load on Wednesday delivering Friday nowhere near your home and then expect you to sit until Monday until they get around to coming in and finding you another run with way to much time on it.
I know the economy is slow but if Knight and the rest of these whack off mega carriers actually cared about the individual employee they would forget hiring and focus on retention. All they would have to do is keep drivers busy, that's all that matters, nothing else. But instead you go to a terminal and see five new drivers waiting for loads. This is done so if and when things get busy they will be ready. That does you and me no good. Private fleets and small carriers are the only way to make a living driving trucks. They aren't going to sit around, it makes no sense unless your only spending $.90 cpm like the big guys are. -
I've made this observation before: If a company spent HALF AS MUCH MONEY ON RETAINING current drivers as they do on RECRUITING new drivers, then there would be ALOT less turnover in this business. Unless there is some reason that companies would rather RECRUIT NEW DRIVERS??? instead of keeping the old guys???
Maybe someone with one of them there fancy college deegreee papers could explain it to us dum truckers??? Make sure you use small words too!!! -
Knight is not the same place it was just one year ago. I truly hope it turns around for the good people that are going to stay on board and try to wait it out. But, I cannot do it any longer. -
Seriously, Congrats on your succesful escape also!
