Those Coleman thermoelectric coolers theoretically cool 40 degrees below ambient, which means the truck must always be running with the AC on full-blast to maintain food-safe temperatures in the cooler if you're in a hot area of the country, which is virtually everywhere in the U.S. in summertime.

The only way to ensure food safety is an actual 12 volt refrigerator/freezer with a compressor or an ice chest. I've been wondering if those expensive Yeti ice chests would be the best bet if you only had to buy ice every five days.

 

Change companies; work for a company that has APU and refrigerator already installed.

Lift up the bunk.

It is mounted on the front wall under the bunk.

 

Amps x volts = watts. If you have a 1200 watt inverter, if you divide 1200 by 120 volts you get 10 amps. You can have a refrigerator that draws up to 10 amps. Somewhere on the appliance it should tell you the amperage draw/(useage).
