We have dragon flies here, love them because they eat pesty bugs.

we also have lightning bugs and bats who eat them.

 

They have Mosquitoes bigger than that Dragon fly .. in OK.... their big enough to knock you down if they land on you

 

Dragon flies are fantastic! We had a good hatch in the wetlands this year so mosquitos are not nearly as bad as they could be.
Sit in a middle of a swarm of dragon flies and I bet you don’t get any mosquito bites.

 

Every summer we have a few weeks of fish flys. Along Lake St Clair. They swarm. The other phenomenon I’ve seen is in New Orleans, once a year Termites come out in swarms to mate. Thick clouds of them. No wonder the old Buildings sometimes just collapse.

 

We get bald faced hornets in Northern Michigan

My grandmother used to call dragonflies "darning needles". I don't know if anyone still calls them that anymore. Probably an archaic term not used much.

That looks like a house centipede, an invasive species from the Mediterranean. I've only seen one here in SoCal. Not anywhere close to as bad as the Desert Centipede.
