I'm sorry....one of those thoughts that is irresistable!LoSt_AgAiN, Dale thompson, Rideandrepair and 3 others Thank this. -
Last night, I awoke after about 3 hrs sleep, because my truck was shaking so hard I thought someone was jumping on the step.
Then I heard the sound of lashing tain......
I'm pretty sure second shift didn't have to shovel up the horse poop in the parking lot.
I awake at 1230am. All is calm in the greater Lancaster PA metro area. Nary a buggy in sight.
I get rolling, had a great ride until 10 miles east of Perrysburg, OH.
*FLASH!* <ka-BLAMMMM!> TAIN AND MORE TAIN!
I stop at the Perrysburg Love's just as the CB crackles to life......."Power was out at the Love's, just came back on, cash only, no cards"......Okay, go over and fuel at Petro.
Arrive at the drop in Saline, MI. Receiver says, "It's gonna be close, if you're still pumping at 11 feet, shut her down so it don't spill."
Gauge says 4' 3", start pumping, it starts inching up. Check it again after awhile, 4' 9". All is well.
Pump starts sounding like the trailer is empty. Gauge says 5' 8". Well, I'm gonna run up and check the trailer. Lemme get a seal first.
I go grab a dome seal from the cab and when I get back out the receiver is right behind me saying, "Gotta shut it down, it's spilling".........
I walk back there, there's about 60 gallons of organic #1 Amber liquid sugar on the ground, and the bees and hornets are goin' NUTS!
Gauge still says 5' 8", which I point out to him, to which he replies, "Huh."
I turn the gauge check knob, gauge ratchets up to 10' 3.25".
"Your float got stuck."
"Oh".
Receiving boss says no harm done, we'll just break out the hot water hoses. I offer to help clean up, twice, and politely refused both times. I break down my gear, but it's all covered in sugar, it's getting all over me, I gotta keep walking thru it, finally I get wrapped up and I'm out.
Stop at the Milan MI Love's.
"Ol' Sugarboots" needs a shower.
The shower was great 'til right at the end, the shower room lights go out, come back on, then start blinking off and on.
I come out and see, again, torrential tain.
I'm told there was a hellacious fork of lightning that hit the ground nearby.
So, registers are down, coolers, roller dogs, Arby's, the shower ticket printer, the scale, and the fuel pumps........all down.
Well, cheese sandwich, bag of pretzels, and Netflix.
At LEAST I got my shower. So there is that.LoSt_AgAiN, Dale thompson, Cattleman84 and 13 others Thank this. -
