Took Shaffer 2 weeks, but I finally have a date to come back to work. The place they had me go do my drug screen took forever to get the results back and I couldn't start work till then. Crete Dedicated was a dream for me, so cant wait to see if the Shaffer side is as bad as it sounds in here.
Hopefully they give me a book on how to handle trailer washouts and damaged/short/surplus good claims cause I never had to worry about any of that on the Crete OTR or Dedicated side.
Snackbar is chillin'....at Shaffer

Lol I appreciate the thread, I’ve been frustrated with some port pickups of late, but looking at the crap ya’ll put up with, heck I not even gonna complain about a double tarp run
Speed_Drums and Lonesome Thank this. -
Washouts are simple. If you had a meat load of any kind, wash it out before your next load. Or if there is any spillage of product that won't blow out, wash it out. Any Blue Beacon works for washout as often as necessary, plus you can pay cash at any other mom-n-pop washout and just scan receipt with the next load's paperwork. We even have some independent washouts that we have an account with. 1 piece of equipment that helps not having to wash out that often is a rechargable (battery powered) leaf blower. Not gas powered. It doesn't have to be the most powerful they make, I have a Black-n-Decker 20v. I bought 2 when Lowe's had them on clearance, so I don't know if they even sell them any more (I also have the self respect to do the right thing and keep a cheap kitchen broom and dust pan so when I blow all the crap out on a customer's lot, I can clean up after myself). Sometimes all it takes is just blowing the dirt and splinters of pallets out. Not every load needs a washout.
As far as OSD, just call the main 800 number and follow the prompts to Freight Claims. All that is needed is trip, truck, trailer, which stop if multi stop load, item numbers and quantity of product(s) that were OS or D, who unloaded, and if they kept any over or damaged, plus your 1st born as collateral (not really). They might ask if bills were signed seal intact, if you picked it up from the shipper, and on certain loads they might want pictures of damaged product(they'll ask you to send the pic's in thru the Crete app once they give you a claim number.) Then you'll get an OSD number to put on the bills.Last edited: Aug 23, 2021

Either Peoplenet or the company is having network issues. Usually I get my stupid hours message right at 18:20 every evening. Tonite, it didn't hit until just before 21:00, and then this weeks idle message from #2...and neither has hit my phone app yet.

Got to see a new (to me) cave complex yesterday in Independence MO. Google Maps reviews say they weren't made for 53' trailers, and they weren't too far off. While it wasn't all that bad, there were a few bends in there that made me glad I slid my tandems all the way forward. And backing in to the customer's dock took some thought since their support pillars are staggered, and one was sorta half-n-half overlapping the door I was assigned, but it didn't take as long for me to get in there as some of the reviewing drivers say it took them, so all in all, coulda been worse. The weird thing was though, most caves want your truck and your reefer off. In this one, you weren't allowed to idle your truck, but the guy came out and wanted me to start the reefer and let it run on the set temp while he was loading. He only took about 20 min to load, and I was on my way.

All set up and ready to head to Dallas today. Just got to fill out some forms at the terminal and pick up one of snacks old trucks that has been returned multiple times from other drivers due to issues
Then find out if I like the reefer life or not. Sadly the 2 years I spent with the company translated to no increase in pay so starting at the .61 plus the .02 surcharge.Lonesome and drvrtech77 Thank this. -
Lonesome Thanks this.
