They order the trucks with a smaller altenator, and only 3 batteries. I had to take mine to vlovo in Fontana after one batt exploded.
I would like to add to your post..
yeah, getting your truck serviced is a joke. oh, yeah and if you are waiting for it to be done for a couple of days. NO PAY!! they will tell you "it's figured into your milage pay", or "it's part of the job"
empty trailers, JOKE. If your in SoCal BIG JOKE. they will tell you go find one. FOR NO PAY
I have been dispatched on a 200 mile or so long run and given 3 or 4 days to run it. They do this so they don't have to pay you the $48 layover. And if you say no to the preplan, then you don't get the layover pay because you turned down a piece of s@#! load. JOKE
I always have alot of drivers asking me if Knight is hiring or how it is to work for them. and they are always shocked when I tell them my experiences and how I have been treated. I think the company looks good from the outside, i know 1 year ago I thought they were the best choice. But, all I can say is I would be real careful. good luck.

I gave up on on So Cal with Knight. At first I would go anyplace anytime but the last several times I went to So Cal with Knight I live unloaded, spotted my MT and spent a day looking for another one and finally got to my customer a day late. I am embarrassed to show up late for an appointment but the funny thing is that is business as usual at Knight. I can't tell you how many times I became available, waited 5 hours to get a load that was supposed to be pu'ed 3 hours ago or two hours after I was available. Then your 14 is shot and it's your problem now. Biggest bunch of idiots I have ever had the pleasure of working with...hands down !

Hey Newtrucker77,
I run my mouth all over the place around this forum but I try hard to stay away from issues with which I have no experience (well, most of the time). But in your case, because you're a fellow Mississippian, I'm gonna butt in. Please, please read everything in this forum about Knight Transportation. There's a Knight terminal in Gulfport about 10 minutes from my home. ###### convenient......'cept I will not darken their doors!!!! -
like old newbi says, there is plenty of info posted on this board to keep you reading for half a day, AND VERY LITTLE OF IT IS GOOD, and most of it is completely true!
If you want to spend 4-8 weeks living in their truck, only driving 2000-2500 miles a week, never getting home when YOU want, sitting 12-18 hrs (w/o pay) between 350 mile loads, driving at a blistering 61.5 mph, and coming soon, EOBRs, then Knight is the place for you! -
What he said is all true except he forgot to minchin that they do slip seat.

You will not get 2000-2500 miles per week. You will also stay out for many weeks and have to threaten to quit to go home. There is absolutely no way to excel at Knight Transportation. They do not allow it and if you do then your dispatcher risks losing their job for playing favorites.
I'm telling you right now don't waste a week of your life finding out for yourself. Theres a reason why the average Knight driver has 2 weeks with the company. I am highly ashamed that I stuck it out with them thinking it would get better but I will admit it in order to keep someone else from making the same mistake.
You will always wait for a load after delivering. You will average about 280 miles per day. Also Knight is a Monday through Friday company and no this does mean you will get weekly hometime. You'll spend your weekends sitting in a truck that won't idle. I could go on but if you need more convincing then maybe Knight is the company for you. Like someone said above you can spend a day sifting through all the crap on Knight and you won't find much good. Working for Knight is about as appealing as pissing behind a dumpster. -
in many of the trucks, the temperature controlled idle must've been tampered with. it won't idle for more than 5mins unless it's cooler than 32ºF and hotter than 80ºF, or some crap like that. it's supposed to. i've been in 4 trucks during this cool time of the year. i KNEW #### well the outside temp was much, much, MUCH colder than 32º, and the onboard temperature was reading the mid-forties. it was total bullcrap! i cannot sleep when i'm shivering most of the night.
yes, i have multiple wool blankets, a sleeping bag, and plenty of warm clothes.
i've noticed a knight truck that's been parked in a part of clovis, ca for a week now. i wonder if it's been abandoned. there's an EMPTY trailer connected to it, too. -
