You own a business now; you need to double check all paperwork especially related to payments.
Seems to me you are being taken advantage of because you are a first time OO and don’t know what you don’t know.

I don't know the terms of your lease but the escrow fund is something they keep in case you owe them money. Kind of like a renter leaves a deposit and if they do any damage they don't get the deposit back.

You have to really be careful with that stuff because sometimes these trucking companies figure out a way that they can say you didn't pay this or you didn't do that or you're penalized for this and you may not get that money back or you may only get a portion of it back.

Be very careful who you lease on to. There are some places like mag carriers that you use their Authority but you book your own loads and you are independent.

Someone mentioned f2f, before you go anywhere near that place do you research. The guy that ran that place is the biggest shyster that ever lived and a lot of people got screwed. Apparently that guy has made a career out of screwing people and he's the biggest a hole that ever lived.

In my opinion he is still on the site under different names talking about how you can make a ton of money and the place is so great...

Again, do your homework and in my own opinion, f2f is a place that you want to run from as fast as you can.

Now you're going to hear people say, no it's not like that no that's not the way it is.

What do you think he would say? I'm a shyster come let me screw you...

That's one two-day trip per month on a mediocre paying load.

Admittedly, I glossed over some posts, but do you have the ability to cross state lines?

Also, there's a few guys here that lease to Landstar for example. I'm pretty sure they're bringing in 72% of the gross, providing their own flatbed, and these guys are killing it. So you CAN make good money in a similar situation as you're already in. And these guys are paying for their own insurance. Just FYI. Lease op isn't a death sentence as long as the company isn't screwing you.

Get on DAT and track your shipments with what they are going on for the 2-3 weeks. this will tell you basically what they are making at the min. and what you are missing out on. Pretty simple you are losing way to much working with these type of companies.

We will see how they respond shortly. The trailer rent is high I agree, but there are no 53' flatbeds around at least at dealers that will finance it for me. I've looked and will continue to look. The last time I looked I was getting fuel at a loves for 2.67 a gallon and the list price was 3.15 so yeah not seeing getting a better discount than that anywhere.

10/4. Not sure how I would find out what the rates are just by looking at the boards though. I mean what they list them for isn't what they end up going for from what I can tell. Are you saying just go by the listed rate that the particular lanes are showing for a couple of weeks?

Yes, the way they have me set up I can run anywhere but they're keeping me in Texas. All this guy's contract freight is in Texas I guess. Reading a post on here the guy was saying that the loads coming into texas from surrounding states are paying very good but the loads going out not so much but it gets me to thinking going out for a night and coming back should average out to good money. But as soon as I leave Texas I get put under Federal elog rules which suck but don't get me wrong I've run it and so I can run it again if the money's right.
