I'd tried doing that for a Tarp Monkey. Who had a chain come loose and it was dragging on the road throwing sparks. Wanted to warn him before LEO saw it and gave him a ticket.

Sadly. He didn't have a cb.

The history of CB and Trucking generally starts just after the National 55 MPH speed limit came into effect in 1974. Terms like "Smokey Bear" "front and back door" were used a lot and in movies like Smokey and the Bandit as well as TV shows like B. J. and the Bear! For many years CB was something along with coffee "and sadly" Amphetamines to get a driver through the wee hours! Back then there were no call phones or even QCs. A driver's only real way to communicate was CB and payphones. (Does anybody remember using your carrier's WATS line to call home?)

Sadly CB is not the primary choice of today's drivers. There are many reasons for this not the least of which is the newer tech. In my last years driving I rarely had mine on when driving, for the same reason I rarely read a lot of things on social media. I guess there will always be throwbacks that will use CB. I was just not one of them then or would I be today!

I’m fairly much a stickler for safety. I would try to get the guys attention and point back at his trailer, but if he didn’t pay attention or just gave me that dumb clueless look I would probably call it in. Better for him to get a ticket that for it to come off and cause an accident. If it’s not a safety issue really just something careless or lazy on the drivers part I’d let the DOT eventually catch him.

Many assumed the driver didn’t do his job and secure the load properly
    How do you know?

I have seen shippers load a deck in absolutely the worst way which in that case the driver could or should have said something

I have also seen loads that have had various sizes and such that stuff will shift

Personally when I get those types of loads I purposely take a few hard turns in the lot and check the load again before leaving and again a couple miles down the road

Maybe this guy did that and when he was spotted he was actually just a few miles from the shipper??

The state (MN) runs tv commercials here to call 911 for unsecured loads.
Too much stuff ending up on the roadway causing hazards.

Couple turns and hard brakes forward and reverse to check odd loads.
I use a flashlight to get drivers attention. I try to light up the side mirror then (at night) shine on problem. Also use horn for getting attention.

Maybe it's time to pay a actual installer/tech to install it.
