AITA - Didn't swap parking lot ticket.

Nta. Not your responsibility. I've found receipts laying on the ground that keep me from having g to pay there or the ta. Otherwise I usually spend enough in the store.

 

Yeah those truck stops in So Cal are probably valued at at least 10 million

 

I would have swapped it in a second and give him a shower ticket to , whats wrong with you hard cases.
Sounds like the same people that would watch somebody beat on there trailer sliding pins in the parking lot for a hour without offering to help.

You were a jerk, but not an A-hole. It wouldn't have hurt or cost you anything to help him out. But you wernt obligated to help him either.

Kinda like if you ever need a jump start.
Drivers will give you all kind of BS. (They will tell you where the shop is, or say my company doesnt allow it, my batteries are weak, or just plain no)

 

If I’ve got 15 minutes to spare and someone needs help - I’m on it.

Used to be , you’d see a truck on the shoulder - and guys would holler out on the CB -

“Hey broke down! You got help coming? Need anything?”

Why? Because his cell network might have no coverage. Grab a number from him - call for him when you get in coverage.

Or - “Broke a belt - 12.7 S60”

“I’ll loop around next exit, I got spares”

My company will cancel my lease for ‘sitting duck policy’ - but if I got escorts, I’ll get off at the next exit and run the cars to help.

Problem nowadays? No CB. Stop on shoulder for any reason other than breakdown. Me me me, elog go go go. And no mentoring from the old school.

Jump start? Sure. I even got cables. No I don’t want your money - cup of coffee is fine.

Shower tickets? Parking tickets? I don’t see Petro or TA going out of business from lost revenue.

Look drivers in the eye and acknowledge them. Pull his laundry out of the washer, into a dryer and insert coins if you’re waiting for the washer. Don’t race a driver when he moves over to let you on the black ribbon. Honk your horn for the kids.

Some of the responses here are sad. Have some faith. Be savvy - be safe, but try to help - and teach, where and if you can.

 

Tell him to go fish reciepts out of the trash or pay for #### in the store. Its cali it don't take much to rack up a $25 bill in the truck stop
