Staffing agencies for truck driving?

Varies by market. In the PNW Pro Drivers are a waste of time. All low-pay jobs that can't afford to pay for a recruiter of their own. Centerline is o.k. but they don't have many jobs.

Trillium Green Bay works well for us , pretty salty crew of experienced hands , most are semi retired.
The folks in the Trillium office are easy to work with for both client and driver.
They actually pay more than some of our new drivers off the street.

 

Run away from the ones that pay you on a 1099.

The ones that are good companies don't do that.

And if you have never worked for one before just a friendly heads up.

They recruit like mad. They will tell you how great it is how much money you can make how busy you'll be the whole thing. And maybe they will be busy in the summer.

But it is always in their best interest to hire way too many drivers. Because for them their Salesforce can just go out and try to grab as much work as they possibly can because they have enough drivers to fill the positions.

However, it's always better for them to hire too many drivers and what will happen is as you go into the slow time the guys that have been there the longest will keep working the guys that are the newer guys if you're lucky might work a day a week or something like that. And if they really over hired, even through the busy times you may not work as much as you'd like.

Now these conditions vary of course, but generally that's the way that it works. They try to overload themselves with drivers so that they are always at full capacity to service their customers but if they have drivers that don't work or don't work as much, oh well.

Maybe with the way things are nowadays it will be less like that? I don't know but that generally is how it works.
