Enroute he needs to stop at a C-store and pick up some Powerball quick picks

In typical Lincoln fashion...I was offered one of my longest runs in months. Pick up north of Memphis going to Henderson, NV...that I had to turn down. I have hometime scheduled in FL for 4.5 days after it's delivery to be with my wife while she gets her worst knee replaced, and I know darn good and well they won't be able to get me home in time to take her to the hospital.

3 ring circus time...after getting empty this morning, they offered a 450 mile run that didn't deliver until Saturday. Said that was unproductive. After 40 min, I headed to the W.Memphis yard. Was about to get out and clean out the dump of a trailer when my A/M called. Said to head for a truckstop 2.5 hrs away and swap trailers with another driver that had mechanical problems (on the trailer). By the time I found the guy, they had gotten the trailer road worthy except for a mudflap bracket and mudflap.(long story, but it wasn't a blowout)...so, they were going to send me back to Memphis to pu a load going to NC, but it needed to be there tomorrow, and with the 4.5 hour sight seeing round trip I went on, I wasn't gonna be able make either the 200 mile 'must drive before stopping' or the 700 miles to the customer...but I am staying calm....ohmmmmmmmm.....ohmmmmmmmm...OHMMMMMMMM. My A/M and I have worked out our problems and are on good speaking terms again, so I am trying not to ruin it by throwing a hissey fit (since it won't do any good to resolve the issue anyway). Amazing how making $0.70/mile in a manual truck calms the savage beast.

They put me on a Houston ice cream load. Delivers any time Thursday, which is about perfect since I don't start getting back hours until Wednesday night.

Has anyone found out where the property for the new W. Memphis terminal is located? I don't know what's up with the current 'shared' terminal. They have blocked off the end of our alloted section (out in the dirt area, and blocked off cutting thru from the Bowman side, so the row in the middle of the lot facing back towards the Petro is only accessable either blindsiding or a tight u-turn past that loading ramp in the middle of the lot so you can sight side in...and there is 0 area illumination out here. They need to hurry up and get that company owned terminal up and running ASAP.

I've given Crete some thought, but what's with the "must drive 200 mile before stopping" stuff on your dispatches? I've never seen or heard that mentoned once in my 20+ year career.

It's a common high value load requirement, although it's usually 100 miles.

The thinking is once you are more than 2 hours from the shipper, it becomes almost impossible to find a truck without having followed it or information from the carrier.

Hopefully a driver will notice a car that's been following them for 2 hours.

High security loads…certain customers only require that due to the nature of the product shipped…
