I have a friend who recently got fired from a new job because his trainer failed him on the trainer's evaluation of the student's driving. This friend of mine has many years of experience driving a big rig without ever wrecking. My friend drove for five years at a mega carrier at his previous trucking job, but when he re-applied to work at his previous job, they wouldn't take him because he got fired for safety reasons at his new job. So I am wondering whether or not he should tell the truth on his application when it asks for his last employer. I suspect any trucking company he applies to work at will check his DAC record.

If you are being trained at a new company and getting paid to drive for the new company in training and you get fired because the trainer fails you on your road test, does that go on your DAC record?

Was he not past the typical probationary hiring period? Surely not passing the driving test of a new hire isn't the same as a company firing someone for bad driving

He was still on the trainer's truck. THe training period was about a week. Does this go on his DAC record?

You should always tell the truth on an application. They will find out then fire you for lying to them.

Most of the megas are big on DAC reporting but most of the smaller, independent companies on Craigslist don't use DAC at all. The only way to know for sure what they put on your, "friend's" DAC is to have him order his DAC report.

How does an experienced driver fail a check ride/ride along/training period? Did he drop his phone? Asking for a friend.

He was driving a daycab at night. So he couldn't shut down to sleep. Then he had trouble with lane position because he could barely keep his eyes open. He kept drifting onto the rumble strip on the shoulder. He failed the road test for drifting onto the rumble strip on the shoulder too many times.

"He" failed because he should have shut down! Driving a daycab is no excuse. If he's that tired the trainer needs to take over or stop at the next hotel and get some sleep.

I talked to him about this. He said that the trainer pressured him into continuing to drive. Maybe the trainer didn't have any available drive time.

Will the fact that this company fired him for failing his "road test" go on his DAC record?

They can put whatever they want on a DAC report. The only way to know for sure is to order a free copy of the driver's DAC report and see what's on it. Gratuitous link provided in my prior post. There's probably going to be something about fired for safety reasons not eligible for rehire.

That's been answered. The only way to know is to get the DAC and look. Some companies might, some companies might not.
There is no legal reason for them not to if that's what you are asking.

i can understand not being able to stay awake at night, but he "had 5 years at a mega carrier"?

that means he drove all hours of the day and night. something don't jive here with me.

well, anyway's, the firing will be / should be on the DAC, not necessarily the failed road test.
