I searched for a thread like this one before i poted it and couldnt find anything...sorry...but it is kinda neat to see what others do to pass time...alot of times we were on the road on weekends and didnt get to do much but there are those times when you can take advantage of the sights and activities of a new place.

As they say, trucking is a lifestyle, not just a job. As a wannabe, I'm encouraged to know that I don't have to be locked down, so to speak, at a truckstop during a reset or whatever. I'm sure that, from time to time, spending 34 hours doing absolutely nothing can be its own reward, though. Well, I guess doing absolutely nothing can be interspersed with housekeeping, catching up on emails, etc.

As time goes on you will learn where you want to shut down and do your restart. Sometimes this will be more than 34 hours depending on delivery time. I looked for a truck stop that had laundry facilities, a decent restaurant. Clean facilities, and a shower. Nice to have a drivers lounge. TV, and theater. A lot of truck stops offer chapel services as well.

The last place you want to be is some hole in the wall convenience store with one crapper and some nasty deli or fast food. I call these places quick n rob stores. Also sometimes you will be able to meet friends either from sites like this. (I have met several over the years) from members that live in the area or are passing thru. Ofter times you can meet army buddies or college classmates. There are all kinds of things you can do to pass time or occupy yourself when you are doing a restart.

Also something neat is I have a lot of cell numbers from drivers on here and other sites. It is kind of neat to be able to track each other and figure out if your paths will cross.

play video games on my xbox 360, watch movies, talk to my little boy on the cell or my gf, and sleep. spending money in the truckstops all the time gets expensive as crap. one time at a TA in houston, pulled out a grill and grilled out and drank beer cuz i was legally off and didnt have anywhere ot go till monday cuz no loads on the weekends.

lately i've been playing torchlight. it's a game that is made by the very crew who made diablo. it's basically diablo II with wow graphics. its purpose is also to hold people over until diablo III comes out. it's currently single player only. there's some chatter about getting a patch together to make it have some online capabilities, which would be great for getting gear sets together much faster. it's one helluva fun game.

when i'm not playing torchlight, i have also been reading the draining lake.
