How fast are you going in those gears?

Usually around 90 to 100 kms/hr. My truck is a bit over geared for the type of work I do. But when heading home at night on the hwy doing 10 over, 18th is nice. 3.90 or 4.10 gears would be better though.

Thats pretty high gearing unless your doing alot of local n really heavy haul.

I dream of a single axle disc brake conversion with a 3.36 diff.. I only book 20k or less loads so maybe later on.

Theres a shop in Kansas that does it for around 10-12k

When you re gear, do you have to change out the entire rear or just the ring and pinion? Also does it require an ECM reprogram after?

I think its just the ring n pinion, cause i seen some for sale on ebay for like 2k each but dam if you need 2 of them thats 4k not including shop labor unless you do it yourself.

The ecu might have to be re-programmed to show the correct mph n rpm...i guess...not really sure.

    Your 100%. But I've never personally seen a issue. I run 11 at 55, 12 at 63 13 about 70-72^. Clean oil.

I run about half my kms off pavement, i pull fuel, logs, heavy equipment, and aggregate the most. But will haul almost anything if a good job. Building supplies, concrete hwy barriers, cable, parts, tires, septic tanks, pipe, bridge girders, atco trailers, generators, scaffolding, ATVs, Snowmobiles, and much more. I will not haul livestock, refuse that, otherwise, what do you need pulled. My favorite is hauling logs, and fuel is next. Just hanging out with loggers is fun. They don't care about being PC, and nerves of steel. Get to the landing and there is a row of pickups parked there, and each has a " ## .. Y .. Tru ....." sticker on the back window. Those are my kind of people to work with. Our chats are no holds, if it's on your mind say it, unfiltered, talks. They work hard, play hard, and push them too far, they are going to fight you. I motorbike and snowmobile with these same men when not working. They are real men, no manicures, no purses, no filters, and willing to settle disagreements with their fists, just as my dad did in his younger years. In this age boys rarely grow up, and they are under some misconception that a tattoo will make them a man.

That all sounds awesome! ......I worked hauling 90-120k containers for 5yrs, the guys there always crying about the heavy contianers, bad port lines, little pay, how bad the road was for them and lots of other stuff.....It was a stressful job sometimes with 12+ hrs a day n 5 days a week. I went back on the road right before covid and its been great as a owner opp and booking my own loads to wherever i want to go. Its has its good n bad just like any job but to me its has more good, so ill stay otr until i find something better.

Id have to pull the invoice - I had a lot of other work done at the time. Local place does the differential work, housing remains the same - maybe $4k for the rears?

I had no paperwork for any rear end repairs, and at 1.2m thought it prudent to replace.

I’d imagine there’s a parameter in the ECM that would need changed.
