Probably depends on who’s asking and why. Like I said my 1 yr anniversary was when I obtained my cdl license. Although I had my permit before the license the company I was driving for would not count my permit as start date. But that was to release me from my schooling debt.
How do employers count "1 year experience"?

One year actually driving for an employer, as a fully licensed trucker is how.

Depends on how the information is requested. Most places ask for verification on a form that asks for hire/fire dates, job title, equipment operated, eligible for rehire etc etc. I've never seen one that asks dates you specifically drove. They just ask for the dates you were hired or left. All my forms are pretty standard though.

Some ads have "one yr. experience & time being with a trainer doesn't count"

the amount of time you were employed as a truck driver. If you drove for 2 months and had 10 months off for vacation, that still counts as 1 year's experience driving. kinda silly but no job is really analyzing it that much.
some jobs use amount of miles driven but that's also flawed. who would be a better driver. someone with 1mil safe miles driving only in rural Kentucky, or someone with 1mil safe driving miles driving across all of USA?Touch Freight Freddy Thanks this.
