It all depends on the run that you get. I'm on an hourly linehaul run. I shuttle trailers between 2 terminals. Usually my night is 3 round trips, build and break sets on each end and drive 390 miles a night. It's usually an 11 to 12 hour night for me. It's basically our entry linehaul run. I should be able to get on a better run in a few weeks. This run, on an entry hourly rate, averages around $85k to $90k a year. Most of our linehaul drivers at my terminal make 6 figures and they generally work around 50 to 55 hours a week. They are paid mileage plus drop, hook, fuel, breakdown, and delay. I'm on the only hourly one we have. Running nights isn't that bad. You just have to get used to it. Takes about a week to acclimate. I admit that it's not for everyone. Luckily my wife is ok with it and I see her and my daughter every evening for a couple hours before I go in.

ABF, YRC, FedEx Freight & T-Force pay OT after 8 and 40.
Dayton Freight after 40. SAIA after 45, Old Dominion after 50 as of Jan.
I know R&L and AAA Cooper don’t pay OT, all straight time.
I think Central transport might be after 55? But I wouldn’t go there unless it was my last option.Texas_hwy_287, jmz and RussianBearTruckeR Thank this. -

Holland and Reddaway pay OT after 8. Only reason why I know this is cause I worked/work there.
Some carriers pay more hourly but don't start OT until the 40th-60th weekly hour.
Some carriers boast OT after 8 with a high starting pay but in many cases they keep you on a short leash with routes lasting less than 8 hours.
It's all a wash at the end. If you bring in $55-$75k annual working 45-60 hours a week you are in the median income group for local P&DmisterG, RussianBearTruckeR and Texas_hwy_287 Thank this. -
