This right here.
You can't depend on a person mashing at a keyboard to fix your truck hundreds of miles away.
Truck is legal to drive without the mirror, it just is not pleasant.
Expecting the company to shell out hundreds more to have a person bring you one is umm.. entitled.
Tape that #### up and keep it moving. Turn in the receipt for the supplies and have a good story to tell.
Mirror broke: help company in the wrong, don’t know what to do.

(b) Exceptions.
(1) Mirrors installed on a vehicle manufactured prior to January 1, 1981, may be continued in service, provided that if the mirrors are replaced they shall be replaced with mirrors meeting, as a minimum, the requirements of FMVSS No. 111 (49 CFR 571.111) in force at the time the vehicle was manufactured.
(2) Only one outside mirror shall be required, which shall be on the driver's side, on trucks which are so constructed that the driver has a view to the rear by means of an interior mirror.

I thought I was the only one that this has happened to.
Very windy thru the construction zone and a truck ahead of me passed one of those orange spring loaded signs and it got blown loose and hit my r side and mirror. Was on way back to terminal so wasn't that far but didn't get a incident or chargeable out of it.
May have been because of the orange paint on the damage.
Go get a cheap spot mirror and do what you have to do to get where you can get it replaced.
Half the drivers out here don't use mirrors and they have two! -
I get and understand not wanting to drive if you feel unsafe
But being able to do a little problem solving on your own might go a long way in the business
Not many people on the other end of the phone can problem solve or they may not want to do a bunch of hand holding??
Again. If not able to do the job and feel safe is a personal decision but crap breaks all the time and we as drivers should be able to jerry rig our way to safety
