So, they had to tow you out of the travel lane? If you hit anything and there was no shoulder, you would be blocking the travel lane. If you hit something, you would see it. Especially with no shoulder.
Did you take pictures of the roadway?
First accident and it is not small..... Will they fire me?

You know how some interstates have those lips on the side of the road. If your not careful and those lips grab your tire it can shoot you off of the road. I’m trying to remember but I think coming out of Florida is one place I remember having to be careful not to get onto the lip of the road. The concern is your not sure what happened. If you do get fired there are plenty of places that will hire you.

I’ll keep it simple if you don’t remember because of some sort of med issue get it sorted out. If it’s not a medical issue just roll with the punches at this ptz.

Like the one driver said we’ve all veered off doing something. Maybe you was looking out your side mirror and didn’t notice your drift until you was on guardrail. Since you were in construction zone. Either way driver don’t sweat it. Stay focused and if you do believe it might be medical you may just go get checked out by doctor. When it’s time to rest be sure to get plenty of rest and just be safe out there.

Hmm.
Stare blind?
The part about not knowing what happened and how you hit it, I’d probably tell you to pack your bags.
You’re supposed to be the captain of the ship, and in control.
Plus they’ll have to buy a guardrail, truck down, possible damage claim.
Looking at the photos, I’d say you hit the guardrail, then jumped the guardrail, and that’s what damaged inside, but by not knowing what happened, it’ll probably happen again, cause you won’t know when it’ll happen or what to do to stop it.Waterman_99 and JoeyJunk Thank this. -
Last night I was on 71 heading to Cincinnati. Raining on and off. It was cold. Came up to an overpass and it was ice underneath. Cars were going all over the place. Honda Civic in front facing me. F150 on my right on shoulder passing me then spinning out. He went off the side and may have hit bridge abutment. Somehow everything missed me. The road was clear as fast as it had turned bad. Was the weirdest thing. The bad part of this………
I was distracted and moving slow, loaded heavy with fourways on and didn’t notice the change in road conditions. How did I miss the headlights behind me going all crazy?
It bothered me all night. Almost 20 years of driving and I got that complacent. Not good. Yours turned out worse. Need to figure this out or next time you may not be here to discuss it. -
If you were my driver I’d fire you. For the simple fact that you can’t give any details besides “I was driving then I was in the gaurd rail” you went into the rail hard and there’s absolutely no way you go from straight driving to collision with zero explanation.
Either it’s a medical emergency or a severe lack of mechanical knowledge. Both are needed to drive a truck safely. You probably need to reevaluate your career choice.God prefers Diesels, TripleSix, Geekonthestreet and 4 others Thank this. -
There’s probably some technical answer to this. I don’t remember if it was here or for what company but it said they wouldn’t get fired for first incident under 20k in damage
