Abilene Motor Express....A New Place To Call Home

I got this beat. I add 3-4 gallons a WEEK. Of course my engine is on its last leg. If one were to ask what’s wrong with the engine and offer suggestions the answer would be “Yep” across the board. This thing is a testament to the resilience of the Series 60 Detroit.

 

Dear Lord! This industry is on a snowball slide to hades. You would NOT believe the sheer number of drivers that I pull on a daily basis who have ZERO idea how to slide their tandems. Or even what they should weigh. Or what paperwork they should have in their cab. Or even speak English. I tell you, it’s no wonder the general driving population thinks drivers are idiots. All I can do is SMDH.

 

LOL, you spoke the "gospel". I meet a relay driver at a truck stop in Knoxville, Tn I am usually there at least 30 mins before he is and I just sit back and wonder, "how in the hell can these drivers even pass a CDL exam, much less get a driving job. They can't even figure out how to enter the truck stop.

 

There are a lot of states that are offering the CDL test in foreign languages which is a direct violation of FMCSA regulations

 

That makes me nervous, since my red light won't go off either.

 

Just got off the phone with safety and have been informed that the new cameras are outward-facing only, with no driver-facing component. To say that I am surprised would be a massive understatement.

In fact, I am so surprised, I don't actually believe it.

 

Had a Florida State trooper tell me that this happened in Florida under Bush when he was Governor. The trooper related to me unless a vehicle is under 90mph, he just looks the other way. Hell he said, most of the time, I can't understand them or them understand me.

Had an old eastern European looking man for Abilene cut in front of me in the shipping office, despite being parked behind me and had nowhere to go. I walk outside and he's driving through their grass to go around my truck and and left deep ruts. They kicked him out and didn't even load him. Don't know what he was thinking. The very few cases I've ran into Abilene drivers they've seemed like decent people but this guy is just asking to get fired.
