What would you do if you can't do CDL job any longer, and you ain't young no more?

I'd love to work on snowmobiles. Don't know how well it'd pay either though.

 

Put a plan together where the current 200 year drought won't affect the land you buy. We're currently 10 years into the 200 year drought and it's spreading across the USA.
Here's just one example:
Sierra Pacific said that they normally provide public access to their wildlands for hiking, fishing, hunting and other outdoor activities.
"Despite some of the late spring rains, California is experiencing the driest conditions it has had in 1200 years," said Andrea Howell, SPI spokesman. "To help protect our forest resources and public safety, Sierra Pacific is closing our California lands to public access and recreation."

 

I'd go be a yard jockey for 12 hours and make bank since I already know how to back....yard jockey would be fun

 

That is a consideration, the lots I'm looking at have mountain streams running through them, which are replenished with snowpack. Obviously drought is going to affect snow fall too, but average snowfall in these areas is higher than rain. I figure I can siphon off water from the stream for storage as well when the water level is much higher in the spring, not sure how much I'd need though and I don't want to damage the local ecosystem too much.

Also thinking of getting honey bees, seeding a bunch of wildflowers on and beyond the property and producing mead. That might be more sustainable than wine honestly because the local flora is drought resistant. Wine market is also a little saturated, it'll take some doing to stand out but silver lining I can use my marketing degree for something.

Well I'm not a man but even I find from time to time the need to learn how to do things. For all its faults the internet is pretty useful for learning new skills and finding folx to learn from.

 

Beekeeper seems a good idea. Saw an article where several beehives were stolen. The bees returned home anyway, so the beekeeper added new beehives for them.
The bees returning home proved the thief lives within one mile of where the theft occurred.

 

Omg I've seen so many stories of beekeepers sabotaging their competition. This is why I need an AR-15, to fend off 40-60 feral beekeepers.

 

How about a trainer at driving school, or safety director?
