It’s not every day that I miss my old green Volvo but today is one of them. I just think from an interior design perspective, Volvo just does it better for living environments and amenities.

so my APU doesn’t keep up on really warm days… so some days, if/when I’m not driving until 10pm or later, I run the big boy until sundown and then switch over to the more efficient APU for the night.

Volvo designs their front curtains to close above the vents that cool the cab whereas KW has curtains that cover the vents. So either your cold air runs up to the window side or you set here with the sun shining into your truck while trying to cool it down.

    Just a simple design flaw.

But at least I can listen to my iPad while connected to the full speaker setup because the engine is running. Again, Volvo allows you to have the speakers available 24/7 to use during down time. KW is just an hour at a time and then you have to get back up and turn it on and connect to it again.

    Another design flaw.

    Well, in my opinion.

How is everyone else doing this fine evening?

My KW has splits in the curtain so the windshield part is above the vents, and the door part sits behind the grab bar. I miss my old Volvo for the steering wheel adjustments.

I just went to Lowe's and bought a roll of the reflective insulation(that looks like the sun shield stuff for your car) and cut it to fit and just hold it in place with the heavy duty clear velcro. Keeps the heat from getting thru to the interior better than any factory curtains ever did.

Ended up with a day of layover yesterday as my load of sugar in Savannah was rescheduled until today and broker didn’t know about it until I touched the guard shack.

I normally prefer the wheels rolling but I was going to hit my 70 a couple times this week so it was a double benefit. Paid, by a broker, for a down day and pushed 9 hours further into the week.

But I get here only to be reminded just how tight the docks are on the back side of this sugar shack. BUT… the food truck here serving up some very good southern style shrimp n grits made it all worth while.

But I will admit, the $114 in layover pay does taste a bit sour compared to the 9 hours of driving I gave up and $300+ for the day.

{shrug} but this week, I’ll reclaim those hours down the road. Normally I wouldn’t get them back.

Well, finally got out from under that load (900 miles spilling into the morning of the four day) and the next two loads flowed much better. Sitting in Ellabell taking a 34 and dropping in the morning.

Was supposed to taking a couple days at home this weekend but with running long on that one load and a breakout of CV at my wife’s work, we opted to skip this weekend home. I don’t really want to have CV in the bunk of a truck again.

    stay safe

Dropped my Quickie Load at HD in Joliet IL, then given a load from Decatur IL, to Walmart in North Platte, NE. I get there and can't find the trailer at the shipper and then see a note that preloaded trailers are around the corner at a local trucking company, so I head over there, stomp their yard, nothing. Called dispatch to let them know, pinged it and he tells me it was in the NW corner of the yard. Yeah, was. Shegone! Waiting at the Pilot here in town for my next load. Until the morning. Deuces!

Well I’m here at Big Springs, NE Pilot doing a reset and cleaning up my mess around the truck.
The temperature yesterday was 115 degrees here!
I was wondering if Nebraska has this temperature what would it feel like in Arizona?

Anybody else having trouble with the stupid omnitracs freezing up, it's a constant thing. With mine. Get to shipper or receiver it freezes up can't change duty status. When it reboots. I've been o to duty all that time irritating..
