I agree, but if not resolved by day three they should've got him another truck, got him home, something.

Crap happening is the companies resposibilty, not his at all.

I'd have been gone by end of day 2.

i think he has been with that company for along time now, maybe since he first came here, as a CDL student, but i cannot recall.

this "could be" the first time such a situation has happened there, give up after this one time..??

he's got a bed, a/c, food, and spending money...

How much do you want to stay at this job.
Have you looked for something better.
Can you get an Uber to a Walmart.
I can eat for 2 days on a 20 dollar pizza.
Last year my truck broke down, shop said they can look at it in a week. After 2 weeks at a100 a day I called dispatcher and told her this wasn't working for me she gave me 1200 a week for the second 2 weeks so I got 3600 for 4 weeks.

And basically lost 9 days of revenue. I could sympathize a couple days, but not 9.

    What kind of truck?

The only thing I can think of that would make that big a difference monetarily is the OneBox.

And for them to have $2400 in room and breakdown pay in you by Monday, not to mention the revenue they've lost, they've saved nothing.

Man you have a lot of topics in this thread LOL.

Your situation highlights why warranties aren't always that and a bag of pistachios.

It's not a perfect world out there. You have a valid complaint. So, you can "negotiate" with boss man on what to do. But be prepared to end your employment with this co. Remember it's not bossman's fault truck is down and he wants to keep his driver close-by to drive it from the shop when finished. You also need to be prepared to get yourself home on your own $$$. Curious as to name of town you're in. A hotel sitting mi from a restaurant seems strange. Most hotels today offer free breakfast. Luck to ya'

Yes sir, this is my third rodeo with a truck breaking down. The other two times it happened was at my former company. I’ve been out here four years so I figure 3 times probably is about average. The difference is the last company I worked for when the shop told him it was going to be 7 to 10 days, they immediately got me in a rental truck. From Penske in fact they came and brought the truck to me right there at the Cascadia dealership. Within a few hours I had the truck unloaded and all my gear on the rental truck and I was out driving. In fact I think I did 3400 miles that week in that rental truck…I suggested this same scenario to my driver manager, But he said our company doesn’t do rental trucks.

it’ll be fine, I’ll survive. The next couple paychecks will definitely be a wash. Meaning, nothings going to be going in my savings account. Lol I’m just getting stir crazy.

I'd have been the biggest PITA thorn in their side for the first 3 or 4 days, calling every hour for another truck or some sort of gameplan. After that there'd be a resignation letter being sent out and I'd be headed home.

I'm there to work, not babysit a broken down truck.
