An old man's career goes flat, Snackbar moves to open deck

I have enough fun folding my tarps on flat ground, I doubt I will ever be good enough to do it on top of the load, especially the loads we see a lot of times that have so many uneven miss matched items.

 

End flaps in, each corner folded in to the center, then each corner folded in to the center, then fold in half sideways, then the non-flap end folded to the flap end lengthwise, then roll up from the folded end towards the open end... With a lot of the freight we have, the 8' tarps draped over the load, the ends are almost touching the.ground on either side.



I had help. There were trucks everywhere waiting to get unloaded, so another SPD driver jumped in and helped with the untarping and folding along with getting all my gear sorted. (He was on the dedicated Wichita account pulling a conestoga)

 

Big G might have bought us from Daske. The load I was on changed. Went from pick up at the Cucamonga yard going to Park City, St. Louis, and NJ(x2) to Cucamonga del'g to 3 NJ's...then it changed again to pu in Cucamonga, a 2nd pu in Buckeye AZ then del in Topeka, Park City, Wichita then St. Louis...now it's pu Cucamonga and Buckeye, then deliver in Houston, Topeka, Park City, Wichita then St. Louis...and my trailer that I was supposed to swap to isn't here. The driver who dropped it said he thinks they took it to go load something to do with my load somewhere. So who knows when it'll get here.


Oh, and that delivery in Dominguez has the city parking patrol coming by and writing tickets now. None of the SPD drivers got one, but a Systems driver who came in after I got backed in off the street got one...and the unloader doesn't know where they are gonna stage their inbounds if they're gonna start that crap.

 

I suggested that to the person setting this up. Fortunately, with what I am hauling, it won't be a problem to be Frank Sinatra and do it my way. I have a scissor lift going to Houston. On the way there, I pick up a 9' x 9' x 5' crate in Goodyear, AZ that is going to Topeka, and it will have it's own tarp(not Buckeye....not sure why I kept thinking Buckeye). The Wichita will be behind that with it's own tarp and the Park City and St. Louis are on the top deck under the same tarp, and the Park City is only 1 crate, so it'll be a quick partial untarp and retarp to deliver it. So basically a 7 stop, 2500 mile load if you count the live load at the Cucamonga yard.

 

I suspect the no parking signs are like those construction zones with the reduced speed/double fine zones that have the barrels that are sitting on the side of the road with nothing being constructed... they're just there to have a reason to increase revenue.
