I did find out that one of the guys I went thru orientation with has already departed, and not in a positive way. He went home on hometime and never came back. When they finally got ahold of him, he told them where to find the truck...and made them come get it. Not sure if it was a medical situation or a pissed off driver, but basically just abandoned it at a fuel stop and never told them he quit.

Well, Cali wanted to take a look at my truck and trailer. Got a Level 1 at the 1st scale coming into Cali on 5 out of Oregon. Passed with flying colors, even though my truck still has layers of Montana road mud from that snow storm last week....now I have a get out of scale free sticker...which means I will be hit by a rock sometime soon. Every time I get a sticker, I end up having to get my windshield replaced soon after.

Successfully delivered all 3 of my stops today and made it back to the Cucamonga yard...the San Diego stop was a ##### on 18 wheels, not the people, just the location. You pull in and follow the drive around the building, and it's so tight that a spread or a big hood wouldn't get in...and then, there isn't any place to turn around a 53' trailer once you get unloaded, so you have to back out(and they don't unload in the street out front)...stop 2 had the wrong address on the Peoplenet...the one crate delivered next door(same company). Stop 3 had about an hour wait to get backed in, but I had all 3 stops done by 14:00, then off to the yard...and we are double parking a bunch of trucks.

he was a fun guy to get to know

I’m honestly surprised he hasn’t retired yet with the amount of vacation he must take. I believe he sold his house in Arlington and lives full time in Ocean Shores.

Yes. Still as “liked” by most drivers as ever.
I believe you’re right. He does take a decent amount of vacation but he’s definitely earned it.

Found out (from the Cucamonga terminal manager) that before I am allowed to haul any OD loads, the OD load committee has to authorize me as an OD driver. He has a 9 wide going to NC but couldn't assign it to me until he hears back from corporate...said there use to be some test you had to take to be certified, but he's not sure they still do it that way now that we are a member of the Roadmaster Group. So, he emailed them to get the process started to get me authorized to haul OD...:hello1::blob4::blob8::blob4::hello1:

Good luck, I’m surprised you have to be approved for a 9 foot load, but hey at least you’ll get your foot in.

Still needs permits. I think it is mostly a check to make sure the driver is a responsible driver and not some seat warming yahoo.

Next up on my agenda...an RGN trailer, then trombone a trailer.
