@kylefitzy, how strict is Arlington on out of route miles, and how close do they watch? Yesterday, Snoqualmie wasn't gonna get much inclement weather, today now one day is 3-5", the next day is 5-8" and I am only carrying 6k lbs. But, if I roll across OR to Portland then up I-5, it's just rain but adds 100 miles.

 

Thanks. We spoke about it, but he said check back later and they'd have to get approval...but I will be there on Sunday, and will bet that there will be only a skeleton crew. I'm not all that concerned with being paid the extra miles, I just don't want to piss off anyone in the office for too many OOR miles. If I were heavier, I wouldn't even blink, but being this light I don't feel like dealing with the amount of snow they're now predicting. This light, chains wouldn't make much of a difference.

 

I tell ya' what, coming thru TN really shows how Flying Peelot and Love's are screwing the smaller carriers and independent O/O's who don't get the big fuel discounts the larger carriers get. Flying Pilot and Love's cash price at the pump was $5.26/gal. Speedway and Mapco, $4.69/gal. I thought the Speedway in Baxter had just made a mistake on their sign(their location is across the road from Love's), but the Mapco west of Nashville had it for the same price as Speedway.

 

He mentioned that we are to use the northern route when possible to avoid OR...nobody said a word in orientation about avoiding OR. I have regularly went I-84 to I-82 to I-90 when weather allows if I am heading for Arlington and nobody has said a word. Not sure why he said to avoid the state, but until I hear otherwise from people above his pay grade, I will continue to do it like I have been.

When I plugged the reroute in to my Nag-A-Gator, it only added 58 miles... Google Maps said it added 100+ miles.

I use the fuel card app they told us about and it almost always says either the Pilot or Love's in Ontario is a green dot, so I try to stop there too.

And that is one of the biggest perks of working here...do your job the way you want as long as it's safe and legal and the freight arrives without damage. Hand holding drivers need not apply!!!
