I might call them when i get home for hometime just to talk things over. I don't want to make any major changes until after tax season is over.

FCC has a leg up on Climate Express in my eyes. Not only would i be home more often with FCC, but i learned from their website that they have a mix of automatic and manual tractors, which really excited me.

Both companies seem pretty solid. Each one has a really good thread on the forums here. Don't think you could go wrong with either one IMO.

Have a family emergency. Grandfather had a severe stroke during the night and was rushed by ambulance to Lawrence. Found out that he also has a blood clot in his brain. I was told no other info about his condition. DM said she will email dispatch to get me home as soon as possible. 1300 miles away in BFN Montana and I hate it, but nothing I can do about it. Told family I wouldn't be home until Friday at the earliest even if I could drive straight there. By the way it sounds he may not have that long.

On a more positive note, i got my last settlement of the year. 100,550 paid miles. Not too bad considering I may have slightly abused Magnum's generous hometime policy, and having almost a months worth of layover pay because of general reefer bs. And to be honest i didn't run as hard as i probably could've. Grossed about 62k in my first full year of trucking. Considering i left a job that made me 24k for full time work, i consider this an upgrade.

Keep that work ethic up and your pay will only go up as you get more experience…not bad for first year.

How do you know that it's winter in North Dakota? A truck had to be pulled out of a spot by a front loader, and I flagged him down because the wheels on the trailer weren't moving. Oh and it's also cold as balls outside. 20221229_173837.jpg

If there is one thing I learned in my first winter of trucking was to not set the trailer brakes in freezing temps.....I did it once....just once.
