Another wonderful Monday, hanging out in Wilmer and trying to decide if I want to work today, or just sit here downstairs, play on the computer, and gaze at the females working in the office.
I emptied out last night in Roanoke - up on 35W by the Pilot - and was offered a two-stop load to Boston, Mass that finaled out Friday. I sent Ops a message that I was trying to get to El Paso, and could they help me any. About a minute later I got back a load offer to Odessa for delivery anytime before midnight tomorrow night.
Picked up the load this morning, and came back here to Wilmer. The trailer needed a T-1, and I could use a little downtime to do laundry, clean the interior of the truck, eat good, sleep late, relax and smell the roses!
I was upstairs in the driver's lounge, but after listening to all the whiners complain and B.S. about what Lincoln allegedly has planned, I found myself contemplating suicide! I swear, if I had a nickel for every story about "...how Crete gives the long-distance runs to the new-hires!", I'd be retired and living on the beach in Honokowai, Kaunakaiki, or Halehomaha (I wouldn't want to live on Oahu - it's too "touristy". I want an uncrowded island where I can blend in with the natives.)
Anyway... The ProStar is a great truck - even if it is "Dodger Blue".
FWIW - Anyone looking to save some serious $$ on dental work - head to El Paso. Mexican dentists do good work, and they'll accept whatever the insurance pays as 100% payment! -

Thankfully when i start driving I have these forums to look at so i can read all the negative and positive stuff. I say you make what you make, take what you take. There is always going to be Whiners and winners, Too many whiners as far as i am concerned. Heck every job has whiners. I for one use to be a whiner til i had a life altering back injury. Now i just want to do my work, support my wife and kids and look at things in a positive way.

With the advent of technology some of us will not bother having televisions in our rigs due to the internet. At home here i watch little TV due to the likes of HULU.COM.
HULU.COM has so many of the tv shows from the past and recent i can always stay upto date on whatever shows i missed. Yup lost i believe is on there. Another is Youtube.com. Alot of Video logs from you truckers on there.
What other online site would you recommend while on the road?? -

(this is a joke by the way)

I have to correct some info from an earlier post. I said as of the 22nd of February, I was 2000ish miles ahead of where I was this time last year. That is incorrect. As of the load I delivered on the 22nd, I was 1850 miles ahead of the total miles I ran in Jan/Feb '09(all of both months)...not just thru 2/22/09. I have ran almost 1400 more miles since(or at least I will have by Friday...on a 'get home' load) The best that I can calculate, I am averaging over 1600 miles more per month so far this year over last year. And again I must say, this new system continues to be a major improvement over the way the old load handling system use to run.
Has anyone but me thought about what is going to happen to our trip numbers soon? In January, we were in the 948#####'s. The last trip I delivered Tuesday 2/23/10 was a 961#####. Our transflow sheets only have room up to trip number 9999999. Since these are DOT traceable numbers, I don't think they can start over at 0...or am I wrong. If my calculations are correct...at the current rate of load sales(not including any increase in business as the traditional busy season approaches) we have around 6 months before we hit the last available trip number...I hope what ever the solution, that it goes as smoothly on the computer as the Y2K scare...that never happened...or maybe it's my stupid paranoia thing kicking in again...I wish those other voices in my head would quit making me think about such things...(again, this is an attempt at humor...I'm not making fun of anyone with paranoid schizophrenia or multiple personality disorder... ---by the way, my lawyer personality voice told me to put this disclaimer in here...)
