I’m in my truck 5 1/2 days a week (go in Sunday evening, go home Friday), driving a dedicated lane for Georgia Pacific. I drive out of Dallas, and go as far as New Orleans, Memphis, St Louis, Kansas City, Omaha, out to western Kansas, down to Laredo, and anywhere inside that loop.
Am I regional or OTR?
What’s the dividing line between regional and OTR?

Don't forget to also ask about "super regional"...
I always liked that one.
Just what the ##### is that, anyway???.....

Each trucking company's insurance carrier usually decides what their definition of OTR is. One carrier I talked to considered not routinely visiting more than 7 states as regional or local driving, depending on circumstance. The only definition that matters is the definition at the trucking company you want to work at or the insurance carrier that dictates what requirement new-hires must have. Our opinion doesn't change the carrier/insurance company opinion and nobody cares if anyone agrees with the opinion, in my experience.tarmadilo Thanks this.

"You could make UP TO $X, OR MORE."

That's what those 55 gallon drums with a handle and straw of Coke are called, I think.

Thanks, all. I was mostly wondering after reading another thread where it was noted that there was a significant difference between local, regional, and OTR when applying for new jobs. I’m actually quite happy with my current job, so it’s not anything I’m particularly worried about, but as I mentioned above, I’m out on the road, doing all the usual things (sleeping in my truck, figuring out where I’m going to sleep tomorrow, driving 2-3,000 miles a week, trying to get usable info out of my dispatcher, etc).
If you count my very occasional forays into Nebraska and Iowa, I cover ten states, and most of them big ones, not those wimpy little Eastern states (says the guy who grew up in Maryland). -

If you're home daily you're local. If you're home weekly, you're regional. If your home monthly, you're otr.
