I mean its not wrong. Inflation has hit. Prices for everything are up. Profits are generally down. The epa and bidet admins are shoveling new moronic regulations down our throats as fast as they can be written. There are more and more unqualified fools let in behind the wheel. More desperate O/Os rushing into truck ownership and taking bottom of the barrel loads. Insurance rates are up. People cant afford as many goods so freight rates are down and its all sadness and dispair.

Or in otherwords..... its tuesday. Good O/Os and companys in general will adapt. The unlucky or stupid ones will go under and the great wheel of commerce will keep right on turning and passing the costs down the line. Though the new hyper inflated truck prices may mean the era of O/Os is comeing to an end anyone still here will likely be fine.

And yet it's 70 degrees somewhere and all the drivers idle their engines night and day and they complain about high fuel prices and castigate me because I lobby for no idle green zones.

Seems like a decent article considering how widely things can vary. My 2023 operating costs came in at $2.53 including driver pay and every other expense imaginable. Subjective like said above. I pay about 90% of the bills for our family. Another guy might have to pay close to nothing because wife is a doctor. Who knows.

Has some good numbers to look at. I did not get to go all the way through it on the report but skimmed through it decent. I will take some time when I get home and look at it a lot closer. I can say based off my numbers it is not to far off if you slice it up like the big companies do. I would bet most people do not keep good numbers and don't understand the true cost of running the truck.

I am not as detailed as I used to be on numbers but keep it all in quickbooks to figure out if need be. I used to keep it all sorted out on a spread sheet to see every detail. Now I understand what I can and can't do without looking too closely. Fuel has been over the course of the life on this truck is .59 a mile before discounts and .42 a mile for the last 90 days without including discount.

You shouldn’t be taking your house hold expenses into your buisness operating costs. The two have zero to do with each other. One’s personal and one’s business, always keep the two separated.
