I used to have a mechanical set (1 for truck and 1 for trailer) 15- years ago. I don't now because I am always light. I don't remember the brand, but Utility trailer in Omaha still sells them (as of 6 months ago anyhow). I remember going by their directions and only tapping into 1 airbag per set of axles. I would routinely calibrate them-usually at IN scalehouse on I94 when they were closed. You can drive on their scales and see the weight displayed. Or I would calibrate at shippers that weigh you out. Never had a ticket relying on them. And I hauled near gross most of the time then. It seems to me you really don't need the air pressure from each axle, unless it is for a spread. Then I think you need 1 for each axle. Nobody weighs each axle on a tandem.

@Judge
Dont you have one of these fancy air scale systems? -
i have right weigh on freightliner but it’s not with the 8 bag suspension, for that i’ve just got an air suspension gauge
Works better for me, because on the digital one it goes up slower than the product they put in trailer at bulk.
OLDSKOOLERnWV and Oxbow Thank this. -
I guess that if you have 34k on an 8 bag with 1 load, the pressure from 34k with another load could be significantly different on each bag?
-
Mine is still 34, but, a hopper some of rear hopper does add weight to drives/steer
So I have to pull forward to load rear at 30, and when it’s loaded at 80k it’s shows 34, the trailer has a different gauge, it ands 72.5 lbs showing and that gauge goes to 95OLDSKOOLERnWV and Oxbow Thank this. -
My digital TelTek is immediate, constantly fluctuating as I drive too… -
Sorry just got back from Maryland at my brothers house.
Not sure there is really much here to answer your original question.
Person could still hook the gauge to 1 axle, be better than a sharp stick in the eye….

I think I’ll just hook one up to one bag and see what happens. Thanks everyone for your help.
Oxbow Thanks this.
