Lol because it’s boring sitting in a door for 6 hrs waiting to get unloaded, may those days never darken my path again :)

I’ve been paid for at least 4 pre tarped loads, legal and oversize off the Arlington yard this year. Idk what to tell ya. Are you putting it on your trip paperwork?

I also don’t pay for workers comp or unemployment insurance?

Really? I get a deduction for this every check.(I mistyped when I said unemployment, I meant only workers comp)

I also have a deduction for WA family leave insurance every check.

I spoke to my fleet manager today. He said he received a call on a Thursday saying 'WYLIE has eliminated his position, he had a choice of going back into a truck, becoming a fleet manager or leave the company". (Wylie, not SPD eliminated his job) He said he has to think about it. On Friday they called back and said "what's your decision, but if you choose going back to driving, you need to be in Arlington by Sunday"... who does that sound more like, Wylie or SPD? Frog soup is on the menu, and Wylie is the cook.

When discussing this retarp pay, Travis also alluded to changes are in the works to our pay policy to align it with Wylie's pay policy...We ARE becoming Wylie, it's only a matter of time.

no different than sitting a few miles from a customer over a weekend because they are only open Monday-Friday. And most reefer outfits pay detention for waiting, here you almost have to have a note from Christ himself before you make a dime of detention.

Covenant did this in the early 2000’s and had enough manpower. You’d still get stuck there for days. It was ridiculous.

The reason that position is posted is because he has decided to go back to the truck and they need someone to take over the fleet manager position he was basically forced into. The job that was eliminated was the YouTube/social media position...he had to make an instantaneous decision about moving to another position, and since he wasn't prepared to immediately jump back in the truck on such short notice, he said he would try being a fleet manager, and got an abreviated crash course on how to do it, not the usual training period a fleet manager gets. And notice, the posting for the job is thru Wylie, not SPD...How much longer before the new SPD logo is removed and a Wylie logo is on the door...they may let our office be in charge of the Aerospace accounts, but I am betting that we won't be a separate company within Wylie, this company will just be a dedicated division of Wylie.

Welcome back the ssb we have all grown to be entertained by. Hope things get better over there. I haul refrigerated. I get paid $35 per drop no detention. Thats for drop and hook as well as live unload. If I get held up in a dock for 6 hrs drop pay is the same as a 20 min drop and hook which sucks.

Lonesome, IH9300SBA and dwells40 Thank this.

Well I guess it comes down to route planning and how you prefer to drive. I understand you are all about big miles, but for me I get within a reasonable distance to the customer and find somewhere nice to shut down, I especially focus on walkability to stores or maybe an event.

For me reefer is just to much sitting, though if I could get a regular route I might think differently.

Sorry to hear you guys are going so corporate, it puts into perspective some of the changes we are undertaking here like moving to more basic trucks after having owner operator spec rides, I won’t complain nearly as much seeing what’s happening there…all the best to you and @kylefitzy

    I appreciate it.

I’ve learned to not get all worked up about things until they happen here. I was all worked up about these new trucks, it’s not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Really my only gripe is the cruise not working right. Of course the collision mitigation is annoying, but only when I’m doing something I shouldn’t be doing anyway.

as for the new camera and eld system, who really knows. A lot of in cab cameras are dependent on how companies use them. Some only look at them in the event of an accident. Some fire drivers for touching their phone once. It all depends.

For me, it WAS about big miles, but after the last month, I have had a major change of heart. I informed my FM yesterday to expect a noticable reduction in productivity from me. I am not knocking my dick in the dirt to make Wylie management richer. And no more 9 or 10 weeks away from home. I will start getting home after 5 or 6. In fact, I told them that from now on, you want something fixed, pay a shop, no more freebies from me. Need a marker light changed, hire a mechanic...holes in another ratty arse tarp, find me a repair shop or buy new tarps. They make too much money on free labor. Well sorry boss, that's a mechanic's job, and they don't do stuff for free, why should I. Permits, $2/page at Love's thru their email system, no more using my printer. This hometime, all my electrical tools and supplies come out, my printer stays home...everything they got done for either free or on the cheap stops.
