Called dispatch to let them know I wanted next Monday off for a 3 day weekend. I think it’s important for drivers to take some extra time off every once in a while for yourself. Burnout happens fast in this industry if you don’t watch yourself. I work hard but I also know my limits. @BigR and a few others do fine running 37-40k miles a quarter, but I would burnout fast if I always ran like that. I realize every person is different though.
Stay safe

I got burned out doing my last job even though it was where I was home weekly. 34 resets and waking up at night to deliver at 5am for tractor supply and HomeGoods just wasn't for me. Took 3 months off after that.

So had to resort to a tactical deployment of falsehood to get out of Gatorade in Edgerton. I had a broker load in which was set for a live unload, my next load was a drop and hook going from there to South Sioux City, NE. Clerk was insistent that I had to live unload the inbound load, then leave and go get rid of the empty somewhere then come back for the loaded "because that's what the computer says and we have to do what it says"
I did gently point out that for a drop and hook you usually leave an empty but no dice.
So I say "Okay" and head back to the truck and hit up night dispatch with this. He recommended telling her we have a driver coming from Lawrence to get it and also mentioned that Pepsi is complaining we are supposed to have 7 empties there at all times (I only saw one). I pass this line along and they reluctantly accepted it. So if any of you are in Edgerton in the near future, I'm sorry.
Went from there to Fremont to get the coolant sensor and a couple of nagging issues addressed along with an 8000 mile service. The loaded trailer also got some love. I only have 3.75 hours left on my 70 and don't get hours back until Wednesday so I suspect after I empty out I may be either doing a D&H and then hiding out until midnight or if the freight gods frown on my insouciance I may just be finding a parking place and hiding out. Either way, not much will be happening tomorrow.
It sucked because the load I just finished had just a little more slack in it I could have squeezed a reset in over the weekend. I have good hours coming back the next 3 days. Since I'm going home on Thursday hopefully it really doesn't make sense to reset right now but I am not a fan of running off of recaps, I don't like to think that hard lol.Speed_Drums, gntorres61, 48Packard and 3 others Thank this. -

Drove down to the Dallas yard yesterday to spend the night. Went down to a PetSmart DC in Ennis this morning and they unloaded my dog food lickity split. Waiting on dispatch to find me a load back up north to get regular service and a couple things addressed on my truck. I was nosey last night and found out a bunch of the loaded trailers in the Dallas yard were full of pallets. I wonder if I’ll get one of those.

Sitting in South Sioux City at Pepsi. Dock guy was surly as all get out so I suspect it’ll be a good little while. Then I am supposed to run over to the mill and grab an mt that needs service and drag it back to Fremont since they don’t have any preloads ready to go.
