Is it true companies can ruin your CDL for leaving an orientation?

I wouldn't necessarily say its the orientation they left, but rather, not listing that orientation on a job application and then it showing up on that coveted dac report that some companies still check. Could be other things those people saying it ruined their careers aren't telling though. I blew a 0.15 after being at the gin mill last night. I smoked a bowl of pot three days ago and failed my drug test, things like that.

I really never understood how it could even be considered employment because most companies you aren't "hired" until you do complete orientation. Mega carriers I think look at it as if you attended orientation then you worked there or feel like it should at least be listed on an employment application.

 

Once you've done a DOT drug screen for a company, any other company can find out about it if they look in the right place. I left Schneider on day 3 and it came up at my next company without me mentioning it. They just added it onto my application and that was that. Now I always list it. But I don't see how it could ruin your CDL unless they're reporting that you failed your drug screen or refused to take it. The latter might be what you're hearing about. If a driver shows up for orientation and then leaves around the time they're supposed to take the drug test, it could be put down as a refusal. Just a guess though.

 

If you were scheduled for a drug test and left before the test, that's a big no-no and makes you a future SAP driver.

 

never worked for a company that fooled with DAC crap in my 35 yrs, guess times have sure changed.

 

I wonder if they do it so they can claim a tax credit.
