I did, but you don't have to do what anyone else does. There were many days I could not afford to stop more than for the legally required 30 minute break once in 11 hours of driving.

You can stop for how long and how often you want to, the key is making sure you get to your delivery point on time, if the company has given you plenty of time to do so, then you can plan ahead and make those stops, if its a tight schedule than no you won't have that luxury. I used to pick up a Reefer from Schriber Cheese in Logan Utah on a Saturday afternoon, I had until Monday morning to get to Los Angeles with it. So lots of time to plan ahead and choose my stops. I'd often stop at Whisky Petes right on NV / CA border, if I got there around Lunch time put in 100 gallons of diesel which would get me a free buffet I'd have a feed camp there till around midnight then head on in to LA.Another Canadian driver and tscottme Thank this.

Most don’t stop.
7.5 hours drive, stop fuel, go to bathroom/shower, 30 minute break over, finish day out driving.77fib77, Another Canadian driver, Pickleball and 3 others Thank this. -
Most companies will blow up your ELD and phone asking why you're stopping every x-hours. Not your fault just the -drivers are disposable- theme of the industry. This laborer is disobedient
It's a problem with trans-ocean flights too. I just get nerve problems sometimes. I haven't tried those purple gel mats yet
Also a 30min and most of 11 driver but I find it annoying someone with the problem needs permission to do what's needed for their healthsilverspur and Another Canadian driver Thank this. -
Nope. Every 2 1/2-3 hours I stop. Even if it’s just to get out, run in to the restroom and walk around the truck a couple of times. The other major health issue besides blood clots is bladder issues. I don’t want to be one of those truckers who ends up having to use a catheter to be able to pee. I k ow a couple guys who wouldn’t stop for 8-9 hours and they both have to do so. One had really bad blood clots and the other lost his leg to an infection, along with having a triple bypass, so……. I don’t give a rats arse, I’m stopping because to me, my health is more important than that freight. We are just meat in the seat to these companies- no matter how many of them say “We treat you like family.” With family like that, who needs enemies?!Bud A., Another Canadian driver, hope not dumb twucker and 2 others Thank this.

Just don’t drive truck if you’re so worried about everything. This really isn’t the job for you. Now days this industry is so stupid easy to get into. All you have to do it push the go pedal.

Why be a jerk? Everyone should care about their health, especially in an industry that takes 10+ years off your life just for doing the job. If you don’t care, that’s your choice. The OP has a legitimate point. You do you and everyone else will do what they feel they need to do to not be just another statistic of this profession.

I normally stop every 2.5-3 hours, but some days I may put a solid 5 in the seat before stopping. I do get plenty of exercise though with unloading, walking at night, and I carry a travel workout kit.
Occasionally driving those extended periods won't be as harmful if you're taking care of yourself.77fib77, Another Canadian driver, DexterSaintJock and 1 other person Thank this.
