Actually the coolest dudes have grey hair, a ponytail, and drive flatbed with a COE Diamond Reo. A cape and the ability to hang upside down could also possibly make someone cool.

You, sir are 100% correct about this. In a litigious society such as the one we're in, even if the law determines the driver not a fault, if the civil proceedings can find even a small bit of fault such as the above, monies will be awarded.
This also is the reason we will never see widespread use of self driving trucks. Society needs a pigeon to lay blame when disaster strikes. You can't blame a computer, but you can easily blame a driver.

Yes, I believe everything I have stated is factual and true. Someone would have to convince me otherwise.

I've been operating trucks with driver facing cameras for the last 6 years, never had an issue with them, contrary to popular belief no they do not film you secretly, most are designed to come on if you have a micro sleep, which is for your own safety, some will come on randomly and film you as well you'll know when their filming as a either a green or red light will come on. I must admit it did take some getting used to though, but I used to amuse myself with them making all kinds of funny faces etc,etc knowing how someone would react that is watching. The film is usually viewed by a company that is hired by the transport company to use the cameras, if they find something like your falling asleep they'll send a message to your supervisor. Legally speaking you can't stop the company putting cameras in the trucks after all they are their trucks, and you can not cover over the camera either which some drivers are tempted to do, this usually results in a warning and sometimes automatic dismissal. Bottom line is you'll have to choose although these days you'll find all the major transport companies are going in that direction. It is all about safety.

Vampire, Atwt and bryan21384 Thank this.
