Unfortunately, personal injury attorneys have a lot of money to throw around in DC. I agree that 750K is probably a little low given the costs of medical care and the value of vehicles these days, but 5 million is seriously excessive.

 

Most won’t work with you unless you got a million minimum.

 

I always carried a million myself, didn't want to be underinsured if something went terribly wrong. But 5 million? That just makes it possible for damage awards to go up and seem reasonable doing it.
