    Warning to all Samsara users!!!!!

Before certifying your logs, don't just scan the simulated graph, actually look at not only your duty status changes but also the location. My unit totally screwed up. I arrived in LeRoy IL, went on duty for my Posttrip, when completed went off duty for a bit, then to sleeper. I reviewed my logs this morning....my last entries were posttrip in Albert Lea, MN and off duty in SE Bloomington, IL!!!! It magically teleported me to Albert Lea to do my postrip time...these units are total garbage!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is 1 step closer to being removed from existence by my fist!!!!! This is the 2nd malfunction, last week on the day it was installed it added 1 min of on duty drive time in the middle of my PC'g to go get dinner. Safety has been notified. I feel like filing a grievance with the FMCSA about being forced to use defective ELD equipment.

Update...the unit corrected itself!!!! When I discovered the malfunction, I put a notation on the incorrect log entry. When I came back out to recertify all my previous days locations...the notation for the malfunction is there, but it changed the location to where I am located....these units cannot be relied on...the best option is break them in half and go back to a less glitchy unit like the Peoplenet tablet (with the scanning option) and tell Samsara to pound sand.

Not sure about the Peoplenet tablet but the Duo unit I had before wasn't bad, it would just loose connection with the truck ecm occasionally. This one is maddening...

So glad we chose Motive, sorry to hear you guys are having such an adventure. Thus far the hardware works decently, and they seem to be open to listening when you have ideas…of course they’re still trying to whoo us so we shall see how the rest of time serves us but mostly positives so far.

I hope they work out the bugs for you!

Made it to the delivery and got out of there. They have me picking up in S. Bend going back to the toxic nuclear waste site in WA. Picking up big spools of hose. I found out that these Samsara units won't let you edit as much as the Peoplenet units. I forgot to switch from Yard Move to unloading today...it won't let me separate any time off of the YM...so, I just added a comment "move to unload area and unloading"... it's all on duty time either way, if safety doesn't like it...T.S...(which stands for tough ####)...after fighting all the b.s. lately, I for one have had about all the trucking life I can stand.

Good deal you got unloaded and heading towards the next one.

maybe your experience has been different here, but in my experience, our safety department is about as laid back as you can be. I never annotate anything except for the duty status that require annotations, like YM and PC. Even those I’m a smart ###, usually I’ll put gibberish or “I’m hungry” “I’m not as hungry now” That’s all the FMCSA requires as far as I know. Safety has never said a word.

well my truck is kind of done at Kenworth. They fixed the collision mitigation, blind spot monitoring, and loose bumper plastics. They ran into a snag with the programming changes I asked for. Also, There’s also a fuel filter restriction gauge that has never worked that I asked for them to hook up. Apparently the truck was not ordered with that gauge, but it is #### sure on my dash. They are trying to figure out what to do about that still.

Not sure how I am gonna fit these reels of hose on the trailer. I am picking up 2 7' wide, 9' diameter reels and 3 5' wide 8' diameter reels. I also have 4 8'x 2' sections of loading ramps with the center support stands. My lower deck is only slightly over 41' in length, but I don't have 8' height clearance on my upper deck, so the reels will have to go on the lower deck...not sure how much of the arc of the bigger reels will be able to overlap the upper deck loaded all the way forward, and I am pretty sure they'll want them loaded suicide, not sure I would feel comfortable with one or two of them loaded shotgun...we shall see... gonna be an interesting morning.
