I wouldn't skip it. It's uncomfortable to talk about past issues but any employer worth their salt will see it and you only get to be honest once. That long ago isn't going to matter with a clean to reasonably clean current record. They need drivers more than drivers need them, this shouldn't be a stopper for 90% of the companies.
