What's the stats now? 90% of new o/o goes out of business within 2 years. There's still too many drivers that came in during 2020, fighting for whatever freight that left. Undercutting each other till the rate is just barely enough to put fuel in the truck.

That's because none of you guys will tell the new guys where the $8 a mile home everyday freight is.

It's sad if you have to drive a truck and you're 70+ years old.
Schneider was doing this gig before, 3 drivers, 2 trucks, 2 weeks on, 1 week off. Im not sure they're still doing it, but again, it's Schneider, not a new 2 truck company.

Pay a man a "little more" than he can get elsewhere. Then he is not riding around talking to others about finding another job.
Having "flats" on good tires and if fueling for cash, bumping the tickets. The lost time and theft will cost you more than the pay.

I always recall what Grady Nash told Goat O'Neal. 3 Nash bros, Grady, Charley, and Billy, all good drivers.
Goat asks Charley: You are driving for Thomas Garrard now?
    Charley says : Yes.
Goat asks: What are you making over there?
    Charley says: $.10 a mile.
Goat says: Thought he only paid $.05 a mile..
Charley replies: He does. But he promised to pay me $.05 and I promised to steal $.05, so $.10...

I once drove for $75.00 a week and all expenses straight time, paid every Friday at noon. Strangest thing.... Nearly all those checks went into my bank account as I was on the road nearly all the time and stayed in a hotel in Canton for $5.00 a nite when I was in....Included drinking whiskey . Just don't drink it in the truck the man said....

Depends.. I started driving trucks because I liked too. And up until I married; (age 24) was an enjoyable mode of life. I was 76 when my wife died, and I would have drove again except for the 4 heart bypasses and right side stroke nullifying my CDL. If you feel truck driving is onerous, then maybe you would be happier as .. Small loan office manager, supervising a chain of 7 of them, selling /servicing materials handling equipment, or counter sales of caster wheels.
But; as your posted name implies, you are on the right track to be a winner.

I just don't like the idea still working, when I'm 70+ years old. It's not particularly truck driving,
    like it or not.
I'm on the right track to be a loser, since I usually learn important lessons too late.
