I laugh every time I see this thread "OK name the good things about Knight"
That's a knee slapper all right ! A few years ago my terminal had a human resource girl that was just the sweetest, prettiest, most charming young lady. She never lied to me. Knight ended up causing her to have a miscarriage. So needless to say she cleaned out her desk and sought out a new life elsewhere.
Liers, cheaters, they will stop at nothing to steal every last penny they can from you. You can fight until your blue in the face and recoup some of the money but after awhile you figure "what's the friggin point ?" Cheapest bunch of dishonest idiots I have ever seen in my life.
Thinking of working for Knight ? Are you F'n serious ?
OK, name the good things about Knight.

Case in point>Just this last week I had a spring that holds up the airlines by the trailer tandems break, and the airline was dragging on the road, wore a hole in it, BAM, air leak. (Was fine when I hooked to the trailer 150 miles back) Out in the middle of bum#### AR, no authorized repair shops within 100 miles, and the truck/trailer was pretty much unmovable.
Pulled into a little convenience store, asked about anyone who worked on big rigs, and got a blank stare as an answer. Called breakdown and advised them that I would limp 10 miles down the road to the next biggest town (4,000 pop), and see if I could find someone to repair the line. (I didn't have a splice kit, or would have done it myself. Should have had one, have one now.)
Stopped at a little fuel stop there, and asked if they knew anyone that could help. They told me two places within a mile (neither of which was a repair shop-one a farm equipment place, the other a local trucking company with a shop), neither of which was willing to help, but one of the mechanics at the 2nd place "knew a guy" who could probably do it.
Note that all this time, I am communicating with breakdown.
I called "this guy", and he came out, said he could do it. I told him to go ahead, then called breakdown again, and told them I was getting it fixed. They got a bit upset because they are the ones supposed to be "calling people", not me, not without authorization. Told them it would be a lot cheaper to have this guy fix it than have the closest authorized service place to drive 100 miles.
Turns out the guy I called was pretty much just trying to get into the repair business, didn't have a tax ID, but he did know what he was doing. The repair was done properly.
However, the only receipt I got was just your "generic, get it at the drugstore" receipt. Oh, yeah, the total was $100, even.
Now, a big company like Knight, with all it's rules and regs, and different departments, you wouldn't think they'd reimburse me, right?
Wrong. It took me a couple of days to get back to my home terminal, and give the receipt to my dispatcher (if I had been further out, I could have faxed it), but when I did, I was reimbursed the same day.
Knight, like any other company out there, is made up of individual people. Most are pretty good, some are downright evil, and some are almost angels. But, overall, they are just people like you and me, trying to do the job, and make the bills.
Driving for Knight is not the best trucking job I've ever had, but it's not the worst, either. -
i started with Knight about 3 months ago, i told them i didn't really have OTR exp. i worked for Sygma, they screwed me over, long story. so knight picked me up, went through orientation had no OTR training what so ever. i had to learn as i went, told them i never even had to keep a log, learned that myself. they promised i'd make at least 5-6 hundred a week, joke!! i'm supposed to be making .31 a mile, i had a run that was 1400 miles, got paid 285!! total BS, my disp. is a joke, i'm stuck here in MD 2 hrs away from my term. with only 9hrs left and she won't get me any loads so i can try to get home. they have already stuck me out 2 straight months when i told them i'd like to be home about every two weeks and that i would work all weekends didn't care. I HATE THIS COMPANY!! my best month with this company i've brought home 2000 in a month. plus the head mech. is a joke, my truck stalled on me going down a hill, he said "ah it's prob the speed sensor" my dad was a diesel mech for 30 years and said that def sounds like a loose ground by the way it acted, they "said" they fixed it, and it still has the same problem. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!

Tracy you said it yourself "Their are evil people at Knight" Which you prefaced by blaming the driver citing maybe performance or attitutude. Well with some of us we perform so well and then get an attitude when were lied to about why we aren't pernited to perform the job.
After a few years of catering to these mega junk carrier idiots, the blame the driver first attitutude really gets old. -
In addition if you have read any of Wicked Wizards posts from the inside of Knight and still rave about the company your in denial.
-
Believe me, I am not raving about them, just saying that not everyone who works in the office is an #######, liar, or cheat.
Dester Thanks this. -
Are there certain terminals for Knight that are worse/better?
-
-
Ok, any idea which are bad and which are good?
