That said it would not have mattered if he said 300 feet or 300 yards. Pulling out with the intention of blocking traffic is dangerous and incompetent. The further back traffic is when a person starts thus "maneuver ", the more incompetent they become in my eyes.
When making a left turn across traffic, ideally one starts moving BEFORE the gap so the truck can get to the speed/gear you want to turn in as the gap occurs and the truck can more easily fit into the gap. If the truck waits until the gap is there, the gap will be gone by the time they start moving. By pulling into the intersection and stopping, the driver makes the turn take longer which requires a larger gap. The driver has created a self fulfilling prophecy in which he will ultimately lose. -

If you don't think it is a worthy topic, why did you click on the thread to read the thread, and why did you bother posting on it? Some threads have titles like "need advice from experienced truckers" in which it is not obvious exactly what the topic of the thread is. But the title of this thread makes it mighty clear what the topic of this thread was. If you don't like this topic, you shouldn't have opened the thread up. -

No, the guy just likes to stir the pot. And he's good at it, I'll give him that. He definitely keeps the forum engaged and makes for some fun back and forth for those of us that understand what he's up to.
It bugs me though when well intentioned people go out of their way to type up thoughtful and informative posts to answer his questions, only to have him spin it around and turn it into a circus, which happens every single time. Then people get mad and moderators have to get involved, and people get ignored/banned/etc. over a bunch of nonsense. There are lots of long time members on this forum who are experts at their trade, and it's amazing how helpful they all are. Seems unfair for them to be trolled like that.
I know, I could just hit the ignore button, but someone else will just take my place in the spider web, and the cycle will continue.gentleroger, Star Rider, Bud A. and 2 others Thank this.
